About This Pub

Ah, The Crafty Lodge – what a lovely spot it is, tucked away in Seaton Delaval. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the owners really go the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome, with that personal touch that turns a simple visit into a proper night out. You're spoiled for choice with their ever-changing selection of beers and drinks; it's brilliant for trying something new, whether it's a local brew or their own Crafty Lager, and at prices that feel fair without skimping on quality. The location's spot on too, just a short walk from the station, which is handy if you're nipping in after work or a day out. On the flip side, it's only open five days a week, so you might find yourself planning around that, and the schedule can seem a tad confusing at first glance. Plus, their website wasn't playing ball when I tried it, which is a shame as it could make things easier for a quick heads-up. All in all, though, it's a gem worth seeking out – I'd say give it a go if you're after a relaxed pint and some genuine hospitality, but just keep an eye on those opening times to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The hosts, Adam and Fiona, are absolutely brilliant – always greeting you with a warm welcome that makes you feel right at home.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of beers on offer, from changing hand pulls and local draughts to classics like Guinness, Aspells cider, and their own Crafty Lager – perfect for a proper pint.
  • It's conveniently located near the station and a bus stop, making it easy to pop in after a journey.
  • Prices are spot on, with a great range of spirits and wines that won't break the bank, and the staff are spot on with recommendations based on your tastes.
  • The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming, like a hidden gem that's ideal for craft ale lovers and anyone after a relaxed chat over drinks.
Cons
  • It seems to be closed a couple of days a week, which might put a dampener on spontaneous visits if you're not checking the hours first.
  • The operating schedule looks a bit muddled in places, so it's worth double-checking to avoid disappointment.
  • Their online presence, like the website, had a few hiccups when I looked into it, which might make it trickier to get the latest info without heading down there.

Excellent micro in Seaton Delaval. 10 ins walm from the newly opened station, and with a bus stop right outside. 3 cask beers and other craft beers on keg.

Absolutely lush place for a pint (or several!) - staff are sound and will recommend places depending on what you like, also with reasonable prices and a great range!

A Hidden Gem for Craft Ale Lovers and Spirit Enthusiasts Alike If you’re a fan of craft beer and exceptional service, this cozy, owner-run pub is a must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like home, thanks to the hands-on care of the owners who truly go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels at ease. Their beer selection is outstanding, featuring a rotating selection of craft ales that will satisfy both seasoned beer connoisseurs and those looking to try something new. But what sets this place apart is their impressive collection of spirits. Whether you’re a gin aficionado, a whiskey lover, or just exploring, there’s something special for you to sip and savor. The service is personal and attentive. The owners are always on hand to recommend a beer or spirit that suits your taste, often offering little stories behind the brews or bottles that add to the experience. It’s clear they are passionate about what they do, and it shows in every pint, every pour, and every interaction. This pub is a refreshing change from the usual chain spots, offering a community-driven, authentic experience where quality and customer care are the priority. Definitely a place you’ll want to come back to.

Walked four and a half miles to get here, (there are buses). I would have walked double that to come here. A lovely pub in a lovely place. Great selection of beers. Food nearby. What more?
