About This Pub

Ah, Hastings Hartley Arms – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper local hideaway in New Hartley, Whitley Bay. From the reviews I've seen, the staff really shine; they're described as happy, welcoming, and always up for a chat, which makes for a cracking atmosphere, especially on a quiet evening. The beer is good, and the food options like the carvery and pies get high praise for being tasty and affordably priced – think better than your average chain spot. It's got that cozy, airy feel that just invites you to settle in for a while. On the flip side, it's not on the main drag, so you could easily drive past if you're not familiar with the area, which might put some off for a quick stop. Plus, with no recent buzz online and a lack of details like a website, it feels a tad out of the loop these days. Still, if you're after a genuine, unpretentious spot for a pint and some solid nosh, it's worth seeking out – just plan ahead and you'll likely have a top-notch time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • It's got a lovely, cozy atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed pint or a catch-up with mates.
  • The beer selection is spot on, and from what folks say, the food like the carvery and pies is really tasty and well-priced.
  • With a solid 4.5 rating, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a good time without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • It's tucked away off the main road, so you might miss it if you're not in the know – not ideal for spontaneous visits.
  • There haven't been any recent reviews, with the latest ones dating back to 2022, which makes me wonder if it's as buzzing as it used to be.
  • No website or phone number listed means it's tricky to check opening times or book ahead.
  • The operating hours seem a bit confusing from what's listed, so you might want to double-check before heading out.

A good pub in a village location with a happy and friendly landlord. Not on the main road so, if you don't know its there you will never go. Perfect for those secret meetings for some people 😉.
