About This Pub
Oh, what a gem The Cottage NR3 is for a good old pub outing in Norwich! From what I've gathered chatting about it, the food really steals the show – think generous portions of perfectly cooked roasts that have people coming back for more, paired with a cosy atmosphere that feels just right for catching up with mates or family. The staff are an absolute delight, always pleasant and making sure you're looked after, which adds that extra warmth to the place. And let's not forget the drinks; there's a brilliant variety, from cracking beers to inventive cocktails, plus it's super dog-friendly with a lovely garden to enjoy on nicer days. On the flip side, the hours can be a tad unpredictable, so you might want to plan ahead, and it's a bit of a letdown that they skip the Sunday roasts in summer – but hey, that's just a minor hiccup in an otherwise top-notch spot. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed meal or a casual drink, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after that authentic pub feel without any fuss.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely spot on – especially those Sunday roasts, which folks rave about for being generous, perfectly cooked, and just downright tasty.
-
It's a proper welcoming spot with friendly staff who make you feel right at home, adding a lovely touch to the whole experience.
-
Being dog-friendly is a real winner; it's great to pop in with your furry mate and not worry about a thing.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks, from a wide range of beers and wines to some standout cocktails that keep things exciting.
-
The atmosphere is spot on for a traditional pub, with a nice garden out the back for when the weather's playing ball.
Cons
-
The operating hours can be a bit confusing with varying times listed, so it's worth double-checking before you head out to avoid any disappointment.
-
It's a shame they don't serve the Sunday roast during the summer months, which might leave you wanting that hearty meal on a sunny day.
-
With the pub sometimes closing a bit early, like around 10 or 11 pm, it might not be the best for a late-night gathering.

My first time there, with family plus dog. Traditional pub. Great food, nice atmosphere and staff pleasant and friendly. Always a bonus to find a dog 🐕 friendly pub.
My parents visited for the weekend, at 76 years old my dad said it was the best roast he’d ever had. I am not sure there is any better praise! Food was amazing, so well cooked and tasted so good. Decent portion sizes and really varied selection of drinks. Nice atmosphere and great staff, it’s worth a visit. 5 stars doesn’t seem enough!
Fantastic roast! So generous with portions and the beef was cooked perfectly. Service was also great.
Will definitely be back! Thank you 🌟
Finally got a review for my local pub. The food was yummy! The service impeccable. The selection of cocktails is outstanding! Shame they don't serve Sunday roast during summer. Bit that is a symptom of a very good employer. Overall a great experience!
It's a while since I last visited The Cottage and it really has improved, there is a great range of beers on tap as well as cocktails and wine, there is a bar billiards table and a good menu.
It is dog friendly and has a great garden out the back
