About This Pub
Ah, Adam and Eve – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper British gem, tucked away in Norwich and full of character from its days as one of the oldest spots in the country. I have to say, the staff really stand out; they're so approachable and make every visit feel like catching up with old mates, which is just what you want after a long day. The drinks are a highlight too – think excellent real ales and reasonably priced options that go down a treat, especially if you're settling in for a chat or even a treasure hunt, as one reviewer mentioned! The outdoor seating is brilliant for when the weather's on your side, and inside it's all cosy nooks that make you want to linger. But, to keep it real, if you swing by on a Sunday, you might find parts of the place sectioned off, which could limit your options a bit. Still, overall, it's a smashing little venue that does the classics well and leaves you with a smile, making it well worth popping in for a pint with friends.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and really make you feel welcome, always up for a chat and quick with service.
-
It's steeped in history as one of the oldest pubs in the UK, with a charming, cosy interior that's just perfect for a relaxing pint.
-
They've got a great selection of real ales and other drinks, and the prices are spot on for a city centre spot – won't break the bank.
-
Plenty of seating both inside and out, ideal for soaking up the sun or getting snug on a cooler day.
Cons
-
On Sundays, some areas might be roped off, which can make the space feel a bit cramped if you're after more room to spread out.
-
The toilets are pretty basic and practical – they get the job done, but they're not exactly the highlight of the visit.

Unfortunately it was only a quick visit. Maybe it's because I visited on a Sunday but only a small area of the pub was accessible with the rest roped off. The bar lady was personable and attentive, and drink prices were reasonable for a city centre pub. The toilets were practical, which is understandable as there is only so much you can do with a building of its age. Looking forward to visiting again.
Great pub. Friendly staff and service. Only had a drink, no food but what I see looked good. We went there as it was the last location on our treasure
hunt for the lost canary. Found it behind the bar amongst the gin and spirits. Lots of seating outside and in.
It is the oldest pub In Norwich and one of the oldest in Great Britain. It’s only 5 minutes walk from the Cathedral. Very pretty and quaint small building with very cosy and comfortable spots to sit inside and plenty of tables outside. I couldn’t resist having a glass of Mosaic pale ale and I liked it very much. The place gives you a touch of history and good options of different enjoyable drinks.
Argyle on tour! Another really cute pub, the 2nd on my whistle stop tour before the match. Excellent pint of local real ale served in the bar. A barrier between us and the many people eating in the Lounge. Friendly staff....talked to a few locals and chilled out...
Real Ale, real people, real nice place to spend time. Spent a happy few hours on an August summers day. Rita and her staff offer a traditional English pub for those seeking a quiet time. (4 absolutely perfect ales sampled). The historic inn steeped in history inside whilst the outside garden area is charming. Access may be a tricky to one of the oldest pubs in the city built long before political correctness and spirit levels. Queuing is an art form and adds to to the ambience too.
