About This Pub

Ah, The Cornubia – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart the moment you step inside. I've always been a fan of places that do real ales properly, and this spot nails it with up to eight different ones on tap, plus their own seasonal brew that's a proper treat each time. The beer garden's a highlight too; it's beautifully kept with water features and bird feeders, perfect for whiling away an afternoon when the sun's out, and they even fire up the BBQs now and then. Being dog-friendly adds such a nice touch – you can bring your furry friend along, and the owners' own dogs make it feel like you're visiting old pals. Then there's the quiz nights; they're light-hearted and free, with a chance to win wine or even tackle that jackpot question – it's all good fun without any pressure. On the downside, it can be a tad tricky to find since it's nestled away amidst the buildings, and if you're peckish, the food's pretty straightforward, just pasties and pies with some chutneys, which might leave you wanting more variety. Still, it's affordably priced and has that genuine, cosy charm that makes it stand out in bustling Bristol. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a proper pub experience – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but maybe check the weather first!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of real ales and ciders, including their own bespoke seasonal brew that's always a delight
  • Lovely, secluded beer garden with BBQs when the weather plays ball, making it a perfect spot for a sunny afternoon
  • Dog-friendly vibe, with the owners' own pets adding to the welcoming, homely feel
  • Fun quiz nights every Tuesday – free to enter and full of laughs, with prizes like wine and sometimes free grub
  • Affordable prices and a cosy, traditional atmosphere that makes you feel right at home
Cons
  • It's a bit tucked away on Temple Street, so you might miss it if you're not keeping an eye out
  • Food options are quite simple – mostly Cornish pasties and pork pies, which might not satisfy if you're after something more substantial
  • The outdoor seating relies on good weather, so it could be a letdown on rainy days in Bristol
  • It might get busy during peak times, especially with the quizzes, making it hard to find a seat

Great pub for locals & tourists alike. Pleasant atmosphere & a good beer choice at reasonable cost. Also has a good sized beer garden for the nice weather. Handy for the station

First time trying this lovely pub. It’s a proper oasis of a pub as it’s totally surrounded by tall office buildings so you don’t expect it to be here. It has an amazing well maintained beer garden with a water feature and lots of bird feeders. Came here for real cider and they had a few on, went with a Harry’s Corker a properly farmhouse cider just the job on a sunny afternoon Highly recommended

Really nice, cosy, old school bar with a nice, open beer garden. Lots of history, military connections from owner. Just a nice place to unwind after a tough day. Recommended!
