About This Pub
Ah, The Coopers Inn – it's one of those pubs that really tries to make you feel part of the community in Stevenage, with its warm welcomes and commitment to fresh, tasty food at fair prices. I've got to say, the sizzling skillets and burgers are proper winners, and from what I've seen in the reviews, the staff often go above and beyond to sort out any issues, like one chap who turned a potentially dodgy evening around. It's a great spot for a relaxed catch-up with friends or a family outing, especially with their community efforts and free function space. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – there have been times when service has been a bit slow, leaving you twiddling your thumbs, or when the food hasn't quite hit the mark, like an overcooked burger that didn't live up to expectations. And while it's generally good value, you might find it pricier than the budget chains, so it's worth keeping that in mind if you're watching the pennies. Overall, it's a solid choice for a night out, with more highs than lows based on the feedback, and I'd reckon it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a lovely time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think sizzling skillets and flame-grilled burgers that hit the spot every time, with fresh ingredients and great value deals that make it a real treat.
-
The staff are a friendly lot, always ready with a warm welcome and efficient service, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got that cosy, traditional pub vibe with a fresh twist after their refurb, perfect for catching up with mates, watching the game, or enjoying a family meal.
-
They're deeply involved in the local community, supporting charities and offering their function area for free, which adds a nice heartwarming touch to the place.
Cons
-
Service can sometimes drag, like waiting ages for a meal even when it's not busy, which might leave you a bit frustrated.
-
Occasionally, the food doesn't quite live up to the hype – we've heard of overcooked dishes that don't match the usual quality.
-
Prices might feel a tad steep compared to other spots, especially if you're after something quick and cheap like at Wetherspoons.
-
Not every visit includes that personal touch; some folks have mentioned a lack of hellos or goodbyes from the team, which can make it feel a bit impersonal at times.

Went in for some food today, tasted absolutely amazing!! Came out really fast props to the chefs and the bar staff where efficient at their jobs, would definitely recommend to anyone looking to go there!!
My cousin and I had a late lunch today, then hung around chatting. The food was very reasonably priced, the fish was huuuuuge and tasted great. The welcome and subsequent service was fabulous, will definitely go there again.
I recently visited The Coopers Inn Stevenage for the bank holiday weekend with my family, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of fantastic! The pub, with its new refurbishment, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, made our meal even more enjoyable.
A special mention goes to all the senior staff (who help to run the show perfectly), including Martin who never hesitates to give a warm welcome.
The food was exceptional—both in taste and presentation.
I highly recommend The Coopers Inn to anyone looking for a top-quality dining experience. Huge compliments to the entire team—I will definitely be returning!

Absolutely fabulous and enthusiastic service from Josh this evening. He made the night very enjoyable and comfortable. He also quickly corrected any issues that rose up - he surely is an asset to Coopers Inn. Food was lovely and could not have ordered a better dish. Thank you for making tonight enjoyable for me and my partner! :)
Waited for 50 minutes for a cremated burger in a very empty restaurant. I couldn’t cook a burger this slow if I tried! Still costed me twice the price of weatherspoons for far less food and quality. Only apology we got was from the waitress however there was no hello or goodbye either from any staff. Felt forgotten about. Also when we first arrived a lady jumped in front to order and this was just accepted.
