About This Pub
Ah, the Rose and Crown – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its positives, but you've got to take the rough with the smooth, as they say. I mean, the food is just brilliant; from what I've heard, it's fresh, tasty, and hits the spot every time, whether you're there for a quick bite or a full meal. They've got these engaging events lined up that make it more than your average watering hole – think classic car shows and the like, which add a real buzz to the place. The drinks are reasonably priced too, so it's easy to settle in for a chat without breaking the bank. On the downside, though, service isn't always up to scratch; a few mates have mentioned staff being a bit short or slow to respond, and one person was really put off by a watery coffee that didn't quite deliver. It's a shame because it sounds like they're still getting things sorted since it's relatively new, with some menu items occasionally off the cards. All in all, with that solid 4.5 rating, I'd say it's worth popping by if you're nearby – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a good time, focusing on the gems like the atmosphere and events.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – plenty of folks rave about how tasty and well-cooked it is, making it a real highlight for a meal out.
-
They've got some brilliant events like the Classic Car Show, which adds a fun and lively vibe, with something for everyone to enjoy.
-
Drinks are well-priced and there's a lovely, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
-
It's clearly a pub that's finding its feet, but the overall positive buzz from visitors shows it's got plenty of potential.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit hit and miss; some have experienced rude or blunt staff, and waits for orders that drag on longer than they'd like.
-
Certain items, like the coffee, haven't impressed everyone – it might not live up to expectations if you're after a proper brew.
-
There are times when menu items are unavailable, which can be a letdown, especially if you're set on something specific.
-
As a newer spot, it sometimes feels like they're still ironing out the kinks, leading to the odd disappointing visit.

Fabulous little pub! Went for their Classic Car Show which was a great event! Noticed lots of interesting upcoming events being advertised, so seems like there is something for everyone to enjoy! Food was fab, drinks well priced and lovely atmosphere! Will definitely return!

The food was amazing. The chef was lovely and cooked well. The service was great. I recommend everyone to come here. 😊
Such a shame, food was amazing but the staff were quite rude. Waited 20 minutes then I had to go up and ask for my order as no one came. No customer service from the staff and very blunt overall. Would recommend the food but definitely need new staff!
I generally avoid leaving negative feedback, so I’m giving 3 stars but honestly, the coffee I bought barely deserves even 1 star.
When I saw the coffee in the cup before she poured the milk over, it was so little that it looked like half a shot at best. It also looked suspiciously watery. The lady making the coffee filled about two-thirds of the cup with milk and all I could taste was just milk.
The photo of the coffee (taken before I even took a sip) shows how unappealing it looked.
I’ve had some bad coffee experiences before, but I can’t even call this “coffee” it was basically a cup of warm milk with something unidentifiable inside.
And it wasn’t cheap either. Very disappointing.
So this is clearly a pub/restaurant finding its way after recently opening. We were a party of 10 with a baby and 2 elderly grandparents - 1 disabled. The staff were obviously nervous when we arrived and this wasn’t helped by some of the menu items being not available. By the end of the evening we were delighted with how things had gone. The staff had been fantastic and become friends, the chef was invited out of the kitchen for a round of applause and we were able to get an uber home!! There are still some things to improve - no wine list for example, despite wine available, and maybe the chef would benefit from a little more support in the kitchen, but these were minor issues and didn’t detract from what was an excellent evening! The people in the bar were clearly having a great time too with lots of live music and singing.
The other reviews about the Pad Thai are spot on - really excellent- as was the shredded beef starter, the pasta and the burger. Dessert not really needed but indulged in nevertheless- excellent crumble and custard. And the home made cakes looked superb, but no room for them.
New venue, clean, enjoyable, great facilities and a top evening for all of us, thank you!
