About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Coach House Inn – it's one of those places that just hits the mark for a proper pub outing. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a standout; imagine tucking into a roast lamb that's so tender it practically melts, or enjoying a meal that's spot on for dietary needs like gluten-free options. The staff? They're an absolute delight, always accommodating and friendly, whether you're popping in last minute or planning something special like a hen party. It's smack in the centre of Chester, which makes it dead convenient, and if you're staying over, the rooms sound comfy and well-placed with views of the cathedral. All in all, with a solid 4.4 rating from heaps of folks, it's clear this spot knows how to please. But, fair's fair, it's a bit of a nuisance that there are no clear operating hours online, and the website's playing up, so you might have to do a bit of digging beforehand to avoid any disappointments. Still, I'd say it's worth a visit for a good laugh and a great meal with mates.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think tender roasts and options for gluten-free needs, making it a welcoming spot for everyone.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and professional, always going the extra mile to make you feel at home, whether it's for a quick lunch or a special occasion.
  • It's in a brilliant location right in the heart of Chester, with easy access and even parking nearby, perfect for a day out.
  • The atmosphere is relaxed and tasteful, ideal for everything from a casual meal to celebrating milestones like anniversaries or hen parties.
  • Value for money is top-notch, with comfy rooms if you're staying over, and overall a wonderful experience that leaves you wanting to return.
Cons
  • There aren't any operating hours listed, which could make it a bit of a faff to plan a visit and avoid any unexpected closures.
  • The website seems to have some technical issues, like network errors, so it might not be the easiest place to get more info before heading out.

I thought that The Coach House Inn is a wonderful place to stay. It was great value for money it’s perfectly located in the centre of Chester and all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfy and the food was wonderful. We stayed one night on Friday 2nd May to Saturday 3rd May and we will definitely be staying there again. I think we have found our ideal place to stay when we are visiting Chester. The food in the restaurant in the evening was beautiful and we also got a half price bottle of wine when we eat, which was a lovely bonus. In the morning we had a wonderful breakfast that kept us going for the day. We stayed as a couple and me and my wife would definitely recommend staying here when visiting the beautiful city. If you’re not looking for somewhere to stay I would recommend it anyway for somewhere to have a wonderful meal or even just a drink. There is plenty of outside seating area outside the front of the beautiful building. If you are not wanting to sit outside then the inside is also wonderfully decorated with a very nice contemporary modern design. The have a nice selection of beers wines and cocktails. Once again I will have to mention how wonderful and friendly all the staff were.

Came here Easter Sunday and found the food exceptionally good. The roast shoulder of lamb was so tender it fell apart, there was a good and generous assortment of vegetables, and the restaurant itself is relaxed and tasteful. Will definitely be coming back soon!

My husband and I stayed here for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. Car park just behind the property. Great location, lovely spacious room overlooking the front and cathedral. Food very good, table service, professional and friendly staff. Overall experience from start to finish was wonderful. Would definitely recommend and will be returning. Thank you for making it such a special and enjoyable time for us.
