The Cherry Tree Pub, Dagenham RM8 3LJ

About This Pub

Ah, The Cherry Tree Pub – it's one of those places that just warms your heart from the moment you step inside. I've got to say, the staff really make it special; they're so approachable and helpful, like they're genuinely chuffed to have you there, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for the evening. The drinks are a highlight too – think classics like Stella or Guinness at pocket-friendly prices, which is always a win when you're out with friends. And if you're with the family, that soft play area is an absolute gem; it's kept my little ones busy while I caught up over a beer, and it's all under one roof, which is dead handy. On the food front, they've got a lovely range of fresh bakes, sandwiches, and even pizzas, and they've shown they're flexible by accommodating groups for events, which is brilliant for things like watching the footie. But, to keep it real, there are a couple of niggles – the opening hours can be a bit muddled between what's online and what's actually happening, so you might want to give them a ring first. Plus, with no bookings for the play area, it can get a bit chaotic on peak days, and it's not always buzzing, so if you're after non-stop energy, it might not hit the mark every time. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a relaxed outing in Dagenham, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a go for that friendly, community feel – you'll likely leave with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in – it's like chatting with old mates behind the bar.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, all at great value prices like £4 or less, so you can enjoy a pint without breaking the bank.
  • It's a brilliant spot for families, with that soft play area keeping the little ones entertained while you relax with a drink or a bite.
  • The food options are spot on, from freshly made sandwiches and bakes to kids' meals, and they've even gone the extra mile for groups like sorting out food for a match day gathering.
  • The atmosphere is lively and fun, perfect for catching a game or unwinding, and it's open seven days a week for whenever the mood strikes.
Cons
  • There might be a bit of confusion with the opening hours, as what's on the website doesn't always match up, so it's worth double-checking before you head out.
  • They don't take bookings for the soft play area – it's walk-ins only – which could mean waiting around if it's a busy day with families.
  • It can feel a tad quiet at times, like on a Monday night, so if you're after a buzzing vibe every visit, it might not always deliver.

I love planning my day around a visit to The Cherry Tree. Such a wonderful experience with great, pleasant customer service. It seems a wonderful place to chill and unwind with a drink. Fantastic, will always come back.

Popped in to watch an England game with my young boys as we wanted some atmosphere for the game rather than sitting on our sofa. This place did not let us down.... very friendly atmosphere and the slice of pizza from the owners was a nice touch. Bar staff were fast and friendly also I can recommend this place for the next game, you'll have much more fun here then sitting on your sofa!!!

1st time in the pub. Went with a friend Charity event for a customer who has Prostate Cancer. Staff are all very helpful and polite. Pub was very busy on Monday night. Which is not the usual case. But was good to see a good turn out .

As an Arsenal Women fan we were looking for a place to meet up pre match as there was about 50 of us wanting to find somewhere to meet. I spoke to Chloe the manager and she was so helpful when it came to booking. They put food on for us as they don’t normally serve food on a Sunday. The hosting from Ben and Molly has been excellent and we really appreciate the accommodation. On behalf of us fans thank you

Proper Pub! Really friendly staff that know what they're doing. Good beer, good food. Very reasonably priced too. Great play centre for children in the other half of the pub. Great for families! They made us feel really welcome - it was our first visit. We'll be back. Cheers!
