About This Pub
Ah, The Chequers Inn, it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper British local, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this warm, welcoming atmosphere where the staff are always up for a chat and the live music on Saturdays really brings the place to life – imagine tapping your foot to some great acts while sipping on a pint. The drinks are your classic lineup, which is spot on if you're after something straightforward and reasonably priced, and there's loads of space plus a pool table for a bit of fun with friends. On the flip side, it's a shame about that temporary closure mentioned recently; it might put a dampener on plans, and while it's mostly positive, a few things like the toilets could do with a quick spruce-up to make it even better. Overall, it's a gem for anyone wanting that authentic pub experience without the fuss, but do check it's open before heading out – worth it for the good times ahead!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The live music is absolutely brilliant, especially on Saturday nights – it's a real highlight that gets everyone in the mood.
-
Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere make it feel like a proper local spot where you can relax and chat.
-
They've got a great selection of drinks on tap, including classic beers, ciders, and cocktails, all at prices that won't break the bank compared to other places.
-
Plenty of space to sit or stand, plus fun extras like a pool table, which is perfect for a casual night out with mates.
-
It's got that lovely old-school pub feel, with regular events that keep things lively and traditional.
Cons
-
One recent mention of it being temporarily closed was a bit disappointing, as it might catch you off guard if you're planning a visit.
-
A few niggles like the toilet doors needing better locks – nothing major, but it could make the place feel a tad more polished.
-
The drinks selection is solid but pretty standard, so if you're after something really unique, you might not find it here.

Disapointed to discover this has "temporarily" closed. Used to be our starting off pub when going out with mates in Beeston. Did have a good range of drinks on tap and plenty of space to sit or stand. Often had live music on a Saturday night as well. Had an "old school" pub feel about it - which may be why it has temp closed. had a beer garden out back and also a pool table area. Hope it re-opens soon.
A lovey proper pub, not a chain selling rubbish food. Great service and very friendly staff. Prices are a little cheaper than other pubs in the area. Great acts on a Saturday evening.
Always great live music and friendly crowd 👍
This is a good old fashioned British local. Everything you would expect from a pub. There is a pool table in the back which me and my friends use most Wednesdays. The staff all seem really nice and the one way system at the bar works really well. A few locks on the toilet doors wouldn't go amiss, but the pub itself is lovely with a nice garden too.
Classic English pub. Prices are not to high, classic selection of beers, ciders and cocktails, that can be found in pretty much any pub. Live music was brilliant, and the owners seem to try and organise events quite regularly.
