About This Pub

Ah, The Berliner – it's one of those places that just draws you in with its effortless charm, tucked away in Beeston. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the vibe is spot on; it's always got that lively buzz without ever feeling overwhelming, and the staff are an absolute treat, making you feel right at ease from the moment you walk in. They've nailed the drinks menu with sophisticated cocktails and some wallet-friendly deals that make it easy to settle in for the evening. Then there are the events – things like the Wednesday quiz or the monthly cabaret are brilliant fun and really set it apart from your average pub outing. On the upside, it's accessible too, with efforts to accommodate everyone, which is always a plus. But let's be honest, it's not all perfect; the pizzas are a bit of a letdown, more on the ordinary side when you were hoping for something special. And if you're eyeing the garden for a bit of fresh air, it's serviceable but lacks that inviting feel, almost like an afterthought. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for a night out – you'd have a great time, especially if you're up for the events and don't mind overlooking a few minor flaws. I'd say give it a go; it's got that heartwarming local touch that makes pub hopping in Nottingham all the more enjoyable.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed evening with friends.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, including sophisticated cocktails and affordable deals like two for £12, which really hit the spot.
  • The staff are always lovely and accommodating, going out of their way to make sure everyone feels at home, even with special needs like wheelchair access.
  • Fun events like the Wednesday quiz or the Curious Cabaret add a real spark, turning a simple visit into a memorable night.
  • It's great value for money with reasonably priced food and drinks, and you can tell it's a well-loved local haunt without feeling overcrowded.
Cons
  • The pizzas are a bit underwhelming – they're alright, but they could do with some improvement to match the rest of the experience.
  • The garden area feels a tad bleak, especially on a sunny day; it's functional but doesn't quite live up to the indoor vibe.
  • There are a few accessibility niggles, like the mirror being too high in the toilet, which might make things a smidge trickier for some folks.

I come here very frequently for their wednesday quiz and cannot talk about how much I love this place enough. The Atmostphere is amazing, the selection of drinks and food are great and the staff are always lovely. You can tell how loved this place as its always full but never crazy busy or rushed. If you want a good drink, a nice seat and some great service then Berliner is the best place in Beeston.

I have been here a few times, and I have always enjoyed it. The drinks selection is great, and the food menu has a good selection. I will say the pizzas are slightly underwhelming. In my opinion, they could definitely be improved, but we still had a nice time.

I’ve been going to The Berliner for years! It has a lovely atmosphere, delicious food at good prices, and really amazing staff. A highlight is The Curious Cabaret, which is there once a month. Highly recommended

Had a fantastic time here for the Harry Potter quiz. Staff were fantastic and super accommodating to make sure I could attend in my wheelchair. The accessible toilet was pretty good but I have a couple of notes: the mirror is too high and a toilet bar would make transferring easier. Otherwise it was clean and tidy with enough room to get around in.

Nice enough cocktail bar that had great cheap drinks. £5.50 for a pint of Peroni and the menu had a few cocktails you could get at any time for two for £12. Happy hour deals on top of that too. It was a nice sunny day so gave the garden a go but it was a bit bleak, although fine for a smoking area.
