About This Pub
Ah, The Castlemayne – it's one of those pubs that just warms you up from the moment you walk in, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are the real stars; they're so friendly and attentive, like they're chatting with old mates rather than just serving drinks. It's perfect for all sorts of dos, whether you're hosting a family celebration or catching a live band on a Saturday – the energy really picks up then, with everyone dancing away. And let's not forget, the drinks are reasonably priced, so you can enjoy a few without worrying about the tab. On the flip side, the operating hours seem a bit all over the place, which might catch you out if you're trying to plan ahead, and without a website, it's not the easiest to get the lowdown online. Overall, though, it's got that homely feel with high marks from most who've been, but it's worth noting it might not hit the mark every time, so pop in with an open mind for a balanced good time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and welcoming, always going the extra mile to make you feel right at home – think friendly faces like Mary and Kelli who really know how to host.
-
It's a brilliant spot for events and gatherings, whether it's a baby celebration, a gig, or a lively night with live bands; they let you set up just how you like it.
-
Drink prices are spot on and very reasonable, so you won't break the bank while enjoying a pint or two.
-
The atmosphere is buzzing, especially with regular live music and bands that get everyone up and dancing – it's got that real community vibe.
Cons
-
The opening hours look a bit muddled from what's listed, which might leave you scratching your head about when to pop in.
-
There's no website to check out, so it could be tricky to get the latest details or plan ahead without giving them a ring.
-
While most folks rave about it, one review suggests it's good but not quite perfect, perhaps hinting that the experience can vary a tad depending on the day.

My daughter had her baby celebration here. We took our own food. The staff were lovely and the drink prices were very good. They allowed us to set up how we wanted it. Would totally recommend holding a function here.
