About This Pub
Ah, the Beehive in Basildon – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening with mates. From what I've gathered, the staff are genuinely warm and quick to lend a hand, whether you're asking about the menu or just chatting about the game, which really adds to that community feel. The food's a standout; think juicy burgers, tasty wings, and a solid Sunday roast that won't break the bank, especially with their current deals making it even more appealing. And for us sports enthusiasts, it's brilliant – multiple screens showing all the big events like the Euros or Champions League, paired with those massive beer towers that keep the drinks flowing without the queue hassle. Plus, the drink selection is varied, from classic real ales to fancy cocktails and even options for those driving or going easy, and that loyalty card for free pints is a cheeky little perk. On the flip side, though, they've got some rules that might cramp your style, like no youngsters after 7pm or a dress code on weekends that could rule out your comfy joggers. I heard about one instance where they wouldn't provide hot water for a baby's bottle, which sounds a tad rigid and left a bad taste for some. Overall, it's a solid pub with plenty to love, but it's worth popping in earlier if you've got the family in tow or checking the dress policy to avoid any surprises. If you're in Basildon and fancy a pint in a lively spot, give it a go – you'll likely have a great time, but just keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and really helpful, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
They've got a cracking selection of food, from hearty burgers and wings to a proper Sunday lunch, and it's all well-priced with some great deals on offer.
-
It's a top spot for sports fans, with big screens showing everything from the Premier League to rugby and Formula 1, plus handy beer towers so you don't miss a second of the action.
-
The drink options are spot on, including real ales, a variety of beers, ciders, cocktails, and even low or no-alcohol choices, with a loyalty scheme that makes every seventh pint free – what a bonus!
-
There's a nice beer garden and outdoor area for when the weather's good, and it's family-friendly earlier in the evening.
Cons
-
They have some strict rules, like no one under 18 after 7pm, which might put off families wanting a later visit.
-
The dress code kicks in on Friday and Saturday evenings – no joggers or work clothes – so it's worth checking if you're planning a casual night out.
-
There are a few policies that can feel a bit inflexible, such as not providing hot water for things like baby bottles, which has left some folks disappointed and less likely to return.

I enjoyed my time at the beehive today very much. The staffi think their names were Elainer, Chris and Matt were so lovely and quick with service. The food I had was amazing and I cannot recommend it enough especially with their new deals on!!!
Asked for hot water for a baby’s bottle after being a paying customer there, the barman was willing to do it before the manager turned round and told us no, saying it’s against there policy after I’ve gotten hot water from there numerous times. Will not be coming back as they are not adaptive to customers needs.
Came here to watch the footy, was good value and they have beer towers available, got one of these 8 pint beauty's so diddnt have to queue at all for the rest of the game! Only wish my teams performance was as good as the bar teams.
Only place I've come across in the town centre that does real ales and as a bonus they do a loyalty scheme - every 7th pint is free (card and stamp) Pints are already a good price.
Shows football on several screens placed around.
Not tried the food but its very popular and well priced. It does look good.
Security is good and I've never seen any trouble.
Conveniently placed between the bus and train stations.
Well worth a visit
