About This Pub

Ah, The Carriers Quarters – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local in Edinburgh, you know? Tucked away in Leith, it's got this charming, old-school appeal with a welcoming team who make you feel like you're chatting with mates from the get-go. I love how they've got live music every Sunday, alternating between bands like the Jammy Devils, which really gets the energy going, and there are quizzes and sports to keep things lively. The pizzas are a standout – they're hearty, affordable, and available all day, plus those special offers like pizza and a pint for £6 make it an easy choice for a budget-friendly bite. It's got a great selection of drinks too, from local ales to cocktails, so you're spoilt for choice if you're just in for a quiet drink. On the flip side, it's a wee bit on the snug side, which means it can get packed and feel a tad overwhelming during peak times, and I've heard a few grumbles about drinks not always being spot on, like that flat coke someone mentioned. Still, with its high marks from folks who've been there, it's clear this place does a lot right – I'd say it's ideal for a casual evening if you're up for good vibes and a bit of craic, but maybe not if you're seeking something more spacious or polished.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got a cracking atmosphere with live music, quizzes, and sports on the telly – perfect for a fun night out.
  • The pizzas are spot on and well-priced, especially with deals like pizza and a pint for just £6 during the day.
  • It's a cosy, traditional spot with a big heart, serving up local ales and cocktails that hit the spot.
  • Dogs are welcome, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your furry mate, and it's got that authentic old-school pub charm.
Cons
  • The place is on the small side, so it can feel a bit cramped when it's busy, especially in the main areas.
  • Some drinks, like the draft coke, have had issues in the past – one person mentioned it being flat, which is a bit of a letdown.
  • It might not suit everyone if you're after a quieter spot, as the live music and events can make it lively at times.

Fantastic wee pub. Decent priced drinks by Edinburgh standards these days. Friendly staff, live music, quizzes and live sports and cracking well priced pizzas. Lovely proper old school pub. Tiny little bar from outside ,little snug as you enter but more space through the back. Seems a lot of regulars were in as bar staff chatty with them.Live music at night.Pizza for £7.00. My only gripe was draft coke was flat. Dogs allowed.

What a great find. Traditional, independent pub, in a great quirky building. Topped off with friendly local staff, and a great pint. (I'll try the pizza the next time ) Thank you.

We love this little pub. They have amazing live music, cosy atmosphere and good vibes. Also fair prices and friendly staff! Haven’t tried their pizza slices yet but want to

Carriers Quarter's is a small  cosy pub divided into two small areas - 3 if you include a table for two to the left of the bar. 😀  Both areas are about the size of your average room so are very cozy - especially the one to the rear as it has a fire. There are TV screens for sport aficionados and there is live music most weekends.  Great selection of beers and pizzas are available at a good price. Staff are friendly.  Definitely worth a visit
