About This Pub
Ah, The Cardinal's Hat is one of those hidden gems in Worcester that just draws you in with its rich history and warm, inviting feel – it's been around since 1497, after all, and you can really sense that old-school charm in every corner. The beers are spot on, with a fantastic range of real ales and crafts that make it a go-to for anyone who appreciates a good pint, and the staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly. If the weather's nice, the covered beer garden is a lovely spot to relax, and it's brilliant that dogs are so welcome too. Plus, if you're staying in the area, the boutique rooms sound like a real treat for a comfortable night's sleep. On the downside, though, the food options are pretty much just snacks, so it might not hit the spot if you're hoping for a full dinner. And with those slightly limited opening hours earlier in the week, it could be tricky if you're planning a spontaneous visit. Overall, it's a top spot for a cosy drink and a bit of history, but keep those expectations in check for the grub – still, I'd say it's well worth a stop for the atmosphere alone.

They've got a brilliant selection of real ales, craft beers, and ciders that any beer lover would rave about – it's a proper treat for a pint.

-
The boutique rooms are a nice touch if you're staying over, offering a comfortable spot to unwind after exploring the city.
Cons
-
The food is mostly limited to pub snacks, so if you're after a hearty meal, you might need to look elsewhere for something more substantial.
-
Opening hours can be a bit restricted, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays when it doesn't kick off until 4pm, which might not suit everyone.
-
As the business isn't claimed on Google, it could mean slower responses if you run into any issues during your visit.

Me and my fiancée stayed two nights over this last weekend and I say this from a couple who have stayed in many hotels, inns and B&Bs etc over the years, this is absolutely THE BEST.
The look, atmosphere, the people, the service, the room with it's antique furniture, the continental breakfast left outside in a basket, down to the bird who arrived in our room through the window, stayed a while then flew out, the location - all incredible.
We hoped to meet Emily and the old man, but all was quiet apart from our TV switching itself on twice as we retired to bed. We assume whoever it was happened to be enjoying the WW2 documentary we were watching 😁

Oldest pub in town. Always great selection of ales. Relaxed 'local pub' cosy atmosphere, especially in winter.
Landlady is a star! Haven't tried the food as yet. Rooms look tempting. Recommended!
Great local beers and charming accommodation upstairs. A fantastic historic building which was a pleasure to stay at. Very nice and helpful staff.
We popped into this beautiful tudor? pub for a loo stop and quick drink. It has a good range of range of beers from here and europe. What I liked most is it is still a series of small rooms and has not been knocked through.
Lovely dog friendly pub. Warm welcome from staff and a lovely log fire to keep you warm. A very good variety of ales including some strong Belgian beers.
