About This Pub

Ah, The Broughton – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a relaxed get-together in Milton Keynes. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute gems, always going the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick lunch or settling in for the big game. The food's a real winner too; think hearty portions of pub favourites at prices that won't break the bank, with special deals that make it easy to treat the whole crew. It's got that family vibe down pat, with options for little ones and even adjustments for those with special requirements, which is lovely to see. On the flip side, being part of a chain means it lacks a bit of that cosy, one-of-a-kind feel you might crave from a true local haunt, and the opening times can be a bit muddled, so you'd want to plan ahead. Plus, if you're after a peaceful evening, it can get lively during events, which is great for the atmosphere but might not suit everyone. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good time out – honest, affordable, and full of that warm pub spirit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always making you feel right at home – it's like chatting with old mates behind the bar.
  • Food is spot on with wallet-friendly prices, offering classics like fish and chips, burgers, and steaks, plus great deals that make it easy on the pocket.
  • It's super family-friendly, with options for kids and a welcoming vibe, especially for those with special needs, which is really thoughtful.
  • Spacious layout and outdoor areas make it perfect for relaxing, whether you're catching live sports or just enjoying a drink in the sun.
  • Plenty of facilities like a car park, WiFi, and even a cashless pool table, so you can settle in for a proper session without any hassle.
Cons
  • As it's part of a chain, it can sometimes feel a tad generic rather than having that unique local charm you'd get from an independent spot.
  • The opening hours listed seem a bit inconsistent, with varying closing times on different days, so it's worth double-checking to avoid disappointment.
  • It might get quite busy during big events like sports matches, which could mean waits for tables or a noisier atmosphere than you'd prefer for a quiet pint.

Brought hotel has always offered a flexible, welcoming environment for our students with SEN. They always show willingness to cater to our students needs and ready to make adjustments for our students emerging needs. I really appreciate their consistency and meeting our students lunch time routine. They definitely care and that's priceless. We love it here...My parents come over from Leighton Buzzard as they love it so much. Jo and Paula our servers were great. Really friendly and attentive. The food was served very quickly and was perfect as always, we have never had a bad meal here. We will definitely be returning for another family meal that's great value and great quality with lovely staff.

Stopped in at The Broughton on Milton Road for a relaxed lunch and was pleasantly surprised by how spacious and friendly the place felt. It’s part of the Hungry Horse chain, so I was expecting the usual pub grub, but everything I tried was freshly made and generous in portion. I went for the 28-day-aged rump steak with fried eggs and hash browns – cooked just right and really hit the spot. My friend had the Ultimate Burger and said it was properly stacked and juicy. Good variety on the menu too – loads of pub classics, including fish and chips, mixed grills, and some veggie options. Service was great – staff were polite and quick to check in without hovering too much. There’s also plenty of seating inside and a decent beer garden outside, which I imagine is perfect in summer. Easy to find just off the A421, with good parking on site. Definitely one of those reliable local spots you can count on for a casual meal or pint. Will be coming back when I’m in the area again.
