About This Pub
Ah, The British Oak – what a gem in Birmingham's Stirchley area! I've got to say, it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a proper pub experience. The food is a standout; those Original Patty Men burgers are seriously something special, with juicy patties and those amazing fries that leave you wanting more, all at reasonable prices. Pair that with the friendly staff who keep everything running smoothly, even in a crowd, and you've got a welcoming spot that feels like chatting with old mates. The atmosphere is brilliant too, with its beautifully restored 1920s features and heaps of space both inside and in the garden, making it perfect for watching sports or enjoying live music and events. On the flip side, though, some of the modern touches do take away a tad from that historic feel, and it can get pretty packed during big games or evenings, which might mean a bit of a queue. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after good grub, drinks, and a bit of buzz – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go for a balanced, enjoyable evening.

A great selection of drinks, from craft beers and cask ales to cocktails and coffee, plus regular events and live music that keep things lively.
-
They're big on live sports, with plenty of screens inside and out, so it's an ideal spot to catch a game with a pint and good company.
Cons
-
Some of the modern updates and needs can slightly spoil the original historical charm of the building, making it feel a bit less authentic in places.
-
It can get quite busy, especially during events, matches, or peak times, which might mean longer waits even though the staff handle it well.

Service is quick and efficient, happy to serve you with a smile, even when there is a long queue they manage to serve everyone with ease. Popular with football and other sports, extra points for having OPM in the garden with some of the best burgers in Birmingham. Can't fault it, plenty of space but fill up quickly when a match is on. 100% recomend

Some magnificent original features in this imposing pub, but somewhat spoiled by modern needs.
We went in for the food in the garden and wow it was amazing. The burgers are juicy and flavoursome and the fires are incredible ! The staff are friendly in the pub too and they have a good choice of drinks. The interior is stunning as they have restored a lot of the 1920’s features of the pub. It was friendly and the atmosphere was good with plenty of seating inside and out !
What an amazing pub! Huge place with an even bigger outdoor seating area that joins onto the bowling green behind the venue. Super attentive staff and we also felt the need to partake in some chow from the Original Patty Men that were onsite. Fries were damned delicious and very reasonably priced. We only popped into this place as we were partaking in the BrimBrewFest which this pub was not actually part of. However, we liked it so much, we popped back again once we had ticked off the other pubs we needed to visit in the area. It was THAT good! Highly recommended!
Absolute gem, we have driven past this for so many years. I never knew about it until we fancied a Sunday roast and did some research.
We will be coming back, absolutely gorgeous Sunday roast. Everyone was happy. Thank you so much. Our waiter was great, the food came out in good time and was lovely and warm. My wife was happy with the vegetarian option, she said it was the best ever! Very well priced! Won’t go anywhere else when we are in the neighbourhood. Thank you
