About This Pub

Ah, The Bournbrook Inn – it's one of those places that really grows on you if you give it a chance. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the staff are absolute stars; they're polite, quick to lend a hand, and make the whole experience feel personal, like you're catching up with friends over a pint. The rooms are a treat too – clean as a whistle and comfy, perfect if you're popping in for a night in Birmingham. And let's not forget the food; it's all about quality locally sourced dishes, paired with some top-notch craft beers and cocktails that leave you wanting more. The events are a highlight as well – Thursday quiz nights for a bit of banter and live music on the weekends to get the energy buzzing. On the flip side, though, a few folks have had a tough time with late arrivals, finding the doors locked when they shouldn't be, which is a bit of a shame and could spoil your plans. Then there's the odd door that doesn't shut properly, adding a minor annoyance to an otherwise pleasant stay, and some service bits that aren't quite polished yet. All in all, with that solid 4.0 rating, it's got plenty going for it, but I'd say it's best to plan ahead and keep expectations realistic – a great spot for a casual night out or a quick getaway, as long as you're prepared for the occasional bump.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always making you feel welcome like old mates.
  • Rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable, ideal for a relaxing stay in Birmingham.
  • They serve up delicious, locally sourced food and a cracking selection of craft beers that really hit the spot.
  • It's got a lively atmosphere with fun events like quiz nights on Thursdays and live music on Fridays and Saturdays.
Cons
  • There have been issues with late check-ins, where the place is shut even when it's meant to be open, which can be a real letdown.
  • Some rooms have doors that stick and need a firm slam to close, which might disrupt your peace a bit.
  • Occasional service hiccups, like confusion with reservations or ordering, can put a dampener on things.

Was the first time staying here. Check-in staff were very friendly and helpful. I was in room 18 on the first floor..was a very clean double room. My only complaint was that you had to slam the door to close it.was it was catching on the carpet. It seemed that lots of the rooms were the same as throughout the night I could hear doors slamming which was not good for sleeping soundly. Maybe the carpets could be trimmed a bit possibly. I had breakfast,.Full English which was very good value. There was juices, cereals and a toaster which you could help yourself. Would definitely stay there again if needed and would recommend

My experience was not good. I made the reservation through the booking.com app and the check-in time was until midnight with confirmation of the hotel reservation. So we left London at 7:00 pm and arrived in Manchester at 10:30 pm. There was no one at reception or in the pub. Everything was closed. We called several times and no one answered, so we had to pay for another place, since we sent an email and phone number and had no response. If you are going to stay at this place, make sure there will be someone there (we are still waiting for the refund we paid , we had unexpected expenses, etc Totally dishonest.

Absolutely horrendous experience. Their website clearly states that check-in is available until midnight. We arrived at 11:30 PM, well within that window, and the place was completely closed. We called nine times, banged on the door, waited around, but no one answered. The lights were on but no staff, and no way to get in. The worst part? They now refuse to refund us and claim that they were there the whole time, which is simply not true. If they had been there, someone would have answered the phone or the door. I can understand if something unexpected happened and reception wasn’t available that night but to then deny it ever happened and keep our money is not just unprofessional, it’s dishonest. We were left stranded late at night in an unfamiliar place, which was stressful and completely avoidable. Avoid this place if you value honesty, communication, or even basic hospitality.

Wonderful stay – highly recommended! My stay at this hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was very clean, cozy, and comfortable, and the staff were extremely polite, helpful, and friendly. The location is great – close to main attractions. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality place to stay!

Walk in for Sunday lunch, no comment about hotel rooms. Restaurant service was good; staff were friendly and got on with work. Perhaps a trainee on the till as some extra questions needed to be asked about how to file the lunch order on the system. Food arrived quickly (within about 20 minutes) and was worth waiting for; tried beef and gammon options between us with both rated as tasty. Desert was good too - stick toffee pudding. Well priced as well - 2 courses for £16. Good range of options for both alcohol (bottled and on tap) and non alcohol drinks.
