About This Pub

Ah, Bournville Café – it's one of those unassuming spots in Stirchley that you stumble upon and think, 'Why haven't I been here sooner?' From what I've gathered chatting about it, the food really shines with quality ingredients at prices that won't break the bank; imagine tucking into a full English or a cottage pie for just a few quid, and it's spot on for a quick meal before catching a game at Edgbaston. The friendly atmosphere adds to the charm, and with such a high rating, it's no wonder people keep coming back. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – some have mentioned skimpy portions that leave you wanting more, and it's a bit frustrating when it's closed during busy times or when delivery orders miss the extras you paid for, making refunds a chore. Still, if you're up for a solid breakfast before midday, it's worth a punt, just keep expectations in check for those little niggles. All in all, it's a decent local haunt that does the basics well, with room to iron out the rough edges.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on with quality ingredients, like in their full English breakfast – it's a proper treat at a wallet-friendly price.
  • Prices are brilliant value; you can get a hearty meal for around £9, or even £15 for two breakfasts and teas, which is perfect for a casual outing.
  • It's got a friendly vibe and a good selection of dishes, making it a great find if you're in the Stirchley area, especially before heading to something like a cricket match at Edgbaston.
  • With an overall rating of 4.5, it's clear that most folks have a smashing time here, and it's managed well online too.
Cons
  • Portions can be a tad disappointing, like getting just one egg or one piece of bacon in a breakfast, leaving you feeling a bit short-changed.
  • It's often closed at peak times or not available for orders, which is a real nuisance if you're counting on it for a quick delivery.
  • Extras you pay for on food apps sometimes go missing, and getting a refund is a hassle, plus the odd item might not taste fresh, like a dodgy hash brown.
  • They close early at 2 PM and might not be open every day, so it's not ideal if you're after a late lunch or evening spot.

Large breakfast with tea 9 pounds. Only one egg only one piece of bacon, a "few" mushrooms, not sure but I feel a bit I certainly feel ripped off.

A great find in the Stirchley area of Birmingham. Friendly cafe with a large selection of food served at lunch time. We were staying locally & attending cricket at Edgbaston so looking to eat prior to the match. Severn of us really enjoyed a variety of main courses from Cottage Pie to a Full English and Chinese Curry & chips. The food was well prepared and came super quickly from a smiling server so we all left happy with a plan to return soon.

We always order on food apps for delivery. 1. Often find this cafe closed at peak times. Had many a time where we have gone else where because they’re not available to order from. 2. Paid for extras are often missed off orders, which you can never get a refund for off those food apps. 3. The food is usually lovely. Not best in Birmingham lovely. But decent enough. Today’s order will absolutely be our last. After extras had been missed off our order every.single.time. We stopped ordering every Saturday and started going somewhere else. We gave the cafe one last go today. The ‘portion’ of mushroom on the large breakfast consisted of exactly what is shown in the photo. The two overcooked eggs had already been put into the plate at this point. Is there a mushroom shortage Or does a single sliced mushroom now constitute as a portion… sigh.

Absolutely smashing little Cafe! Quality ingredients at affordable prices. Me and my hubby loved our Breakfast a few days ago and will definitely be returning. £15 for 2 breakfasts and 2 teas, Fried breath and bread and butter AND 2 sausages on the small breakfast each along with bacon, egg beans and Tom's all cooked to perfection... Loved it Thanks ladies ❤️🫶

Tasty Vegetarian breakfast. Unfortunately I have to change my 4 star review from 8 months ago because the takeaway I had today was disappointing, in fact I had to throw the Hash brown away because it tasted off (see photo). Also disappointed with amount of brown sauce they gave me.
