About This Pub

Oh, you know, The Borough in Lancaster is one of those places that really stands out for a proper good time – it's got that mix of a cosy pub, tasty restaurant, and handy hotel all rolled into one. From the reviews I've seen and the vibes on their site, the food is spot on; whether it's a hearty breakfast or a dinner special, it's all about fresh, well-put-together meals that leave you satisfied. The staff are an absolute treat too, always chatting away and making sure everything runs smoothly, which makes it feel like you're catching up with mates rather than just popping in for a bite. It's brilliant for all sorts of occasions – think laid-back afternoons with a pint or even weddings where they handle the details so you can just enjoy the day. And if you're staying over, the rooms sound like a nice touch, right in the thick of it all. But, fair's fair, it does get packed out at times, so you might end up queuing or feeling the squeeze in a busy spot. Plus, with it being in the city centre, sorting out parking can be a bit of a faff. All in all, it's a solid choice for a night out or a stay, as long as you go in with a plan – I'd say it's well worth a visit for anyone looking for a bit of Lancastrian hospitality with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious and always well-presented, with options like breakfast wraps and steak nights that hit the spot.
  • Service is top-notch, with staff who are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and go out of their way to make you feel at home.
  • It's a versatile spot for everything from a casual pint or informal lunch to special occasions like weddings, with a lively atmosphere that's full of energy.
  • The rooms are lovely if you're staying over, offering comfortable city-centre accommodation right next to the pub for added convenience.
  • They've got great entertainment vibes, like the Faulty Towers dining experience, making it a fun place for a laugh and good times.
Cons
  • It can get really busy, especially during peak hours, which might mean waiting for a table or dealing with a bit of a crowd.
  • The operating hours aren't always crystal clear from what's available, so you might need to double-check to avoid any surprises.
  • Being in the heart of Lancaster, parking can be a hassle, which might put a dampener on things if you're driving in.

Came for breakfast with my sister, she had the breakfast wrap and I chose sausage brioche bun with crispy hash browns on the side. The food was faultless and the service from suzia was excellent. She could not do enough to help she was so polite friendly and welcoming! Thank you for a beautiful breakfast and outstanding hospitality. We will be back ASAP!

I had a wonderful stay at the Borough! This quaint stay is located adjacent to the facility’s pub/restaurant. Not only was I put up in a gorgeous two-level room, but I was offered a delicious free breakfast each morning for booking through the hotel’s main website (seriously, just give them a call!). As a solo female traveler, I felt welcome and comfortable. Could not recommend The Borough more!

We don't know how the chambers are, but the pub is lovely and cosy. Very friendly and hospitable staff. Food is very good and freshly made. They also have a nice yard behind the pub were you can sit, eat and relax

We had our wedding at the Borough and it was absolutely perfect. The managers met us several times to talk through all the details, and on the day they guided us through everything so we could enjoy stress-free. All the staff are so lovely and happy to help with any request. We also stayed two nights and ate there, the accommodation was amazing and we had many comments from guests on the excellent food. The perfect place for a wedding, or a stay, or just some food. Thank you so much to all the team.

Visited for steak night and stayed over. The room was stunning, and right next door to The Borough bar/restaurant. Which was so convenient! Staff were so lovely and welcoming. (Ed and Katy were working when we were there, both made us feel so comfortable, and just so funny! Laughed all night long!) The food was amazing too! Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area. I cannot wait to visit again. Thank you all x
