About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The Blackburne Arms – it's one of those places that just warms your heart the second you step inside. Tucked away in Liverpool's historic Georgian Quarter, this gastro pub and hotel has been around for over a century, and you can really feel that rich history mixed with a fresh, modern touch thanks to the owners' clever renovations. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute stars; they're chatty, attentive, and go out of their way to make sure you're having a good time, whether you're just popping in for a pint or settling in for a full meal. The food's a real highlight – think delicious roasts that folks rave about, along with seasonal dishes and a solid range of beers that won't break the bank. And if you're up for some entertainment, their quiz nights and live music add a fun twist to the evenings. On the flip side, it can get a tad hectic when things are buzzing, and I do wish they'd sort out clearer info on when they're open, as it's a bit of a faff otherwise. Plus, if you're not in the mood for a roast on Sundays, options might feel a bit slim. All in all, it's a proper gem for anyone wanting a relaxed spot to enjoy good grub and company, but it's worth keeping those little niggles in mind for the full picture.

Pros and Cons

  • The food is absolutely spot on, with standout dishes like their hearty roasts and a great selection of drinks at reasonable prices
  • It has a lovely atmosphere, blending historic charm with modern vibes, plus fun events like quiz nights and live music
  • The boutique hotel rooms upstairs are comfy and homely, perfect if you're looking for a place to stay after a night out
  • It's a real community spot in Liverpool's Georgian Quarter, loved by locals and visitors alike for its warm, vibrant feel
Cons
  • Operating hours aren't clearly listed, which can make it tricky to plan a visit without checking in advance
  • It might get a bit crowded on busy evenings or during events, so you could end up waiting for a table
  • The menu seems limited on Sundays to just roasts, which might not suit everyone if you're after something different

Went as a group of 10 for dinner on Saturday evening. Food, drink and service were all good quality and reasonably priced. Exactly what you would expect for a good pub meal so would recommend.

We did not stay here but went to the restaurant for food. The menu is only Sunday roasts on a Sunday (not sure if they will make anything else) but would really recommend the roast. We each had chicken, lamb or beef dinners and all were very good. Food came out quickly and they will cook the meat to your liking. The paid extras of pigs in blankets were good but the cauliflower cheese was a bit watery. They also have a good range of drinks to choose from. Staff are very friendly.
