About This Pub

Ah, The Black Dog Beer House – what a cracking find in Brentford! I have to say, it's one of those places that really hits the spot for a proper pub experience. The beer selection is just spot on; with 14 keg lines, real ales, ciders, and their own fresh brews from the in-house Fearless Nomad setup, there's something to please every taste, whether you're after a hoppy IPA or a bold Belgian dark ale. Pair that with some seriously good food – think reworked classics like pork belly with slaw or loaded fries, all made fresh on site – and you've got a winning combination that leaves you feeling well chuffed. The staff are an absolute delight too, always on hand with a smile and solid recommendations, making you feel right at home. On the flip side, it's a bit of a shame it's closed on Tuesdays, as that could disrupt your plans for a quick drink. And if you're out with the little ones, it might not be ideal; no kids' menu and those strict rules about under 18s mean it's more of an adults-only affair. Plus, the space is on the smaller side, so it can get a bit cosy when it's packed, and wrangling a pram might be a hassle. All in all, though, it's a top-notch spot for a relaxed evening with friends – just pop in when you can, and you'll see why it's got such a loyal following.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of beers with 14 keg lines, real ales, ciders, and even their own in-house brews from Fearless Nomad – it's a real treat for any beer enthusiast
  • Freshly made food that's full of creative twists on classics, like amazing pork belly or loaded fries, all prepared in-house
  • Friendly and helpful staff who are quick with recommendations and keep things running smoothly, even when it's busy
  • Lovely atmosphere in a cosy backstreet spot, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates
  • Reasonably priced for the quality, making it a great value spot without breaking the bank
Cons
  • Closed on Tuesdays, which can throw a spanner in the works if you're planning a mid-week pint
  • Not the most family-friendly place, as there's no kids' menu and strict rules about under 18s, so it might not suit everyone
  • Space can be a bit tight, especially with prams or larger groups, which might make it feel a tad cramped on busier days
  • Bookings are only for about half the tables, so you might have to plan ahead or risk not getting a spot

Busy London pub tucked just off of the high street in Brentford. Great atmosphere and service. The food though was the cherry on the cake, amazing pork belly with red cabbage slaw and a side of decent chips. Thoroughly recommended 👌

My first ever visit to this pub. Amazing range of cask and keg beers a couple of which are brewed on site. Organic wines on draught and a couple of real ciders. I didn't get chance to try the food which looked excellent. A truly top quality pub in Brentford worth travelling for

A traditional beer 🍻 house with an excellent selection of drinks, definitely something for everyone. Staff were very friendly and helpful (with recommendations on beers) and professional, keeping the pub clean. We had some food (Kawarma & Loaded Fries) The service was quick, the food was well cooked and very tasty. Dog friendly & a good selection of games to play, they really do want you to stay and enjoy the place. Recommend to all if you are in the area.

Great little boozer a block away from the old Griffin Park. Lovely ambience, great selection of draft and keg ales from around the world, very good pub food and all reasonably priced. Loads of staff at peak times so you're never left waiting too long.

Visited Brentford for the 3rd New Year in a row. Found the Black Dog on the first visit, staying across the road at the Premier so been coming here for 3 years. I booked a table to guarantee a spot on our arrival 29th Dec. Eaten here for 3 days and visted for 4 days. Take the best bit of every bar you have visited. Amazing staff, friendly customers, log fire, great keg n cask beers. Wines, port, fantastic food, great prices (I'm from Yorkshire) shake em up n pour them out. This is what you get The Black Dog Beer House . Just wish it wasn't 173 miles away from home. Hopefully back soon
