About This Pub
Ah, The Black Boy – what a gem of a pub tucked away in St Albans. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got that classic pub charm that's hard to beat, with folks raving about the welcoming atmosphere that just draws you in for a chat and a drink. The team behind the bar are absolute stars, always ready with a smile and willing to help out, whether it's serving up a top-notch pint or sorting things for a special occasion. It's heartening to hear how they've handled events like wakes with such care and attention, making tough times a bit easier. Prices are fair too, so you can pop in without breaking the bank. On the downside, though, the operating hours look a tad confusing from the details available, which might mean you have to plan around a few uncertainties. And without an online presence like a website, it's not straightforward to check what's on or get in touch beforehand. All in all, it's a place I'd happily recommend for a laid-back evening with mates, as long as you're up for that authentic pub experience with a few quirks along the way.

What a lovely pub. Had our 1st visit this weekend and were made to feel so welcome. Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and very reasonable prices. We will be back.
Thank you Peter and team.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to Pete and all his lovely staff for providing the venue and the catering for our Mum's wake. They went above and beyond in what they provided and we would highly recommend to others. From babies to 90 year old family members, everyone was catered for and well looked after.
Thank you so much.
Susan and family.
Lovely pub. Wonderful staff. Definitely worth a visit.
The whole family came for mums wake. We had a wonderful selection of food including unlimited tea, coffee and squash for the littleones. The staff were attentive, nothing too much. A wonderful slide show that was put perfectly together by the owner Pete, from photos supplied and shown on all three screens in the bar that was for our own private use. They played mum's favourite group ABBA's songs all the way through.
Thank you all for helping to make a hard day into a celebration of mum. ♥️
