About This Pub
Ah, The Birch Tree – it's one of those pubs that just wraps you up in a welcoming hug as soon as you step inside. I've got to say, the team there really know how to make you feel at ease, with their friendly chats and efficient service that turns a simple meal into a proper treat. The food's a standout, too; think hearty portions of delicious dishes that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank, and that award-winning garden is an absolute delight when the weather's on your side – ideal for a lazy afternoon pint or a family gathering. They're spot on with events as well, offering everything from Christmas fayre to live tributes, which adds a bit of excitement and makes it a go-to for special occasions. On the flip side, though, there have been a few grumbles about the bar service not always hitting the mark, like when someone had a less than stellar experience with a drink order that left them feeling a bit deflated. And let's be honest, it's tucked away enough that you might drive right past it if you're not paying attention. Overall, it's a solid choice for us pub goers looking for a relaxed spot with good vibes, but it's worth keeping in mind that, like any place, it has its off moments – still, the positives far outweigh the niggles, and I'd happily pop back for another visit.

Cons
-
Service can sometimes fall short, like one instance where a bar team member seemed a bit put out and didn't handle a simple order well.

-
The opening hours seem a tad confusing from what's listed, which might put off folks trying to plan a visit.

Really nice pub, very friendly and helpful staff and the food was a great potion size, very filling and very tasty. Came at around 12 so it wasn't too busy or noisy. Very nice inviting atmosphere and decor. You could easily drive past this place and miss it but it's worth stopping for!
First time I have been to the Birch Tree, as my son has moved in just down the road from it and so we wanted to try it out. Food was perfect, beer was good and the service was spot on too. Definitely be back for more. Marked down on the Atmos, only because we got there very early and was the only peeps in the restaurant. I will go back again at a busier time and try it out. Definitely worth a visit!
I popped in here for a drink after finishing work, asked for an inches shandy and the barmaid just looked shocked, "oh no really?" As if she was asking me to change my mind...
She proceeded to pour way too much lemonade and had to mention it to her, and she then huffed and puffed.
She didn't ask me if I'd like anything else, didn't tell me the price, and proceeded to hold the card machine with the screen upside down so I had to work out how much it was. Terrible service.
Finally managed to find the beer garden and it was state. Not only were there glasses left on all the tables, but the tables themselves were layered in dust (how long has it been since they were cleaned?)
It's really a shame, it looks like a good pub and I would have loved to come back with my family for a meal, but this has really soured me.
After a stressful day and a long way from home, my family and I were looking for somewhere to eat and relax. We chanced upon the Birch Tree and felt welcome from the start. We had a superb meal, well cooked and nicely presented. Service was very friendly and efficient. The cost for food and drinks was extremely reasonable, especially given the quality.. We arrived tired and stressed and left in a far better frame of mind.
Always enjoy a meal here. Pub is local to us, only a few minutes drive, and is lovely to have such a nice place close by. Food is always spot on, never had a bad meal. Bring family regularly when they are visiting, it is always enjoyed. The garden is a beautiful space to spend time when the sun is shining
