About This Pub

Ah, The Bell – what a lovely little find in Bicester, isn't it? I've got to say, it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its 17th-century charm and that real sense of community. The staff are an absolute delight, always making you feel like you're part of the gang, and there's never a dull moment with all the live music, quizzes, and poker nights on offer. The drinks are top drawer too, especially those real ales that go down a treat, and the food's surprisingly good without costing a fortune – think delicious pub grub that pairs perfectly with a pint. On the flip side, though, their website's a bit of a mixed bag with some odd links that don't quite fit, and the operating hours can look a bit confusing at first glance. Plus, since it's not claimed online, you might wonder if they'd be as responsive to any issues. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a proper pub experience – I'd pop in for a quiz night if you're in the area, but maybe check the details beforehand to avoid any surprises.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – they make you feel right at home, remembering your face from previous visits and adding to that cosy community vibe.
  • It's packed with entertainment, like live music every weekend, weekly quizzes, poker nights, and even traditional pub games, keeping things lively and fun.
  • The drinks selection is spot on, with Cask Marque accredited real ales and a variety of beers and spirits that hit the mark without breaking the bank.
  • The food is a real treat – tasty, not overly pricey, and perfect for a relaxed meal in a classic pub setting.
  • It's got that genuine community spirit, feeling like a big family gathering where everyone’s welcome for a laugh and a chat.
Cons
  • The website has some random links to unrelated stuff like vapes and watches, which feels a bit out of place and might confuse you when you're just looking for pub info.
  • The operating hours listed seem a touch muddled, with multiple entries for Sundays, so it might take a bit of double-checking to know when it's open.
  • As it's not claimed by the owners, it could mean they're not as quick to sort out any niggles or updates online, which might leave things feeling a tad unmanaged.

I had walked past this gem hundreds of times - I finally went for a Monday pub quiz. It was free and such a laugh. Vibrant atmosphere, much taking of the piss, friendly staff and a way cool dog. This is a proper community pub where the staff make you feel welcome and part of the family! Proper, legitimate pub! I have a local.
