About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Bear Inn – it's one of those classic Essex gastropubs that just hits the spot for a relaxed night out or a special gathering. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is really something to rave about; people are raving about those Sunday roasts and other fine dishes that leave you feeling satisfied and coming back for more. The whole place has this lovely, cosy charm that makes it perfect for catching up with mates or enjoying a quiet meal by the fire. Plus, it's got great options for events like weddings or parties, with ample parking and a spacious beer garden that's ideal for soaking up the sun on warmer days. On the flip side, it's not all smooth sailing – a few folks have mentioned waiting ages for drinks when things get busy, which can put a bit of a dampener on the experience, especially if you're after quick service. All in all, though, it's a solid choice if you're in the area; just pop in knowing it might be lively, and you'll likely have a memorable time with the good outweighing the occasional hiccup.

Always a fab meal at the Bear. Lovely staff, very accommodating, would highly recommend
Great Sunday roast beef was cooked exactly how I asked, food never disappoints, only reason I didn't give 5stars this time was because we waited over 20 minutes for our drinks
My husband & I visited the Bear on a Saturday night. It was a buzzing atmosphere which was lovely to see as the Bear is our favourite pub in the village! We were greeted with a smile when we arrived and sat next to the table by the fire - which was stunning and very cozy. There was no rush to order, we enjoyed our first drink and then ordered our food. The food is exquisite! We had scotch egg, fish fingers, bear burger & brownie. With a taste of each course all was 10/10 and could not fault the food choice on the menu as it caters for everyone. All the service was second to none, nothing was too much trouble and everyone was all so friendly and knowledgeable you could really see the Bear has a “family” team and they really want to provide the best service. All the menu is reasonably priced for HOMEMADE food so I would definitely recommend to others. Thank you so much again! See you next time.
We recently celebrated my grandpa’s birthday at this restaurant, and it was an excellent choice. The ambiance was outstanding – warm and elegant decor that made us feel right at home. The food was exceptional; every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The service was attentive and friendly, which made the evening even more enjoyable. Our family gathering was truly enhanced by the pleasant atmosphere and delicious food. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back!
We popped in on the spur the moment for lunch and are very pleased we did. Sat in the garden near the lovely pond, we were taken care of very well with prompt service ordering, and our drinks arriving without any delay. The food was great, especially the bangers and mash. We’ll definitely be back again soon
