About This Pub
Ah, The Barley Mow, what a lovely spot it is in the midst of Bristol's hustle. I've got to say, it's one of those places that just nails the basics: the beers are fresh and full of character, straight from the Bristol Beer Factory, and paired with some really satisfying food options like those Sunday roasts that folks rave about. The team behind the bar are absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the homely feel. On the flip side, it's got that classic, unchanged charm, which might not suit everyone if you're in the mood for something a bit more contemporary – and do keep an eye on those opening times, as they vary a touch on Sundays. All in all, if you're a beer enthusiast or just after a proper pub experience near Temple Meads, it's well worth a visit; you'll likely leave with a smile and maybe even a new favourite local haunt.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of local beers, all brewed by the Bristol Beer Factory, and everything's gluten-free now, which is a nice touch for those with dietary needs.
-
The food is spot on – think hearty Sunday roasts and tasty burgers that hit the spot, especially after a few pints.
-
It's a proper cosy, traditional pub with a warm atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates in the heart of Bristol.
Cons
-
It might feel a bit old-school for anyone after something more modern or trendy, as it hasn't changed much over the years.
-
The operating hours can seem a tad inconsistent on Sundays, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.
-
Space could be limited when it gets busy, especially near events or festivals in the area.

An awesomely charming little pub staffed by friendly guys and gals. The Sunday roasts were absolutely stunning!
Class when I seen Scott pay with cash, I knew this was legit! Food I haven't seen yet, probably class anyways! Absolute nice goose necks for taps, we rarely see that in Ireland even for a Cask!
