About This Pub

Ah, The Banshee – what a gem of an Irish pub tucked away in Stockport! From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really nails the essentials: pouring a pint of Guinness that's genuinely as smooth and perfect as you'd get in the heart of Dublin, which is no small feat up here. The atmosphere is just lovely, all cosy and inviting with live music that gets everyone in the spirit, and the staff are absolute stars, making sure you're looked after without any fuss. It's clear folks are raving about it for good reason – it's got that authentic Irish charm that makes you feel like you're miles away from the everyday hustle. On the flip side, though, it's only open five days a week, so you'll need to keep an eye on the schedule to avoid disappointment. Plus, it's more about the drinks than a proper bite to eat, and being in Stockport might not suit everyone if you're coming from further afield. All in all, if you're after a solid spot for a pint and a chat with friends, I'd say give it a go – it's got far more hits than misses and leaves you with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Guinness here is spot on – it's as good as anything you'd find in Dublin, making it a real treat for anyone craving an authentic pint.
  • It captures that warm, traditional Irish pub vibe perfectly, with a comfortable and cosy atmosphere that's just inviting.
  • The staff are friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile and great service that makes you feel right at home.
  • Live music adds to the fun, creating a lively spot that's perfect for a night out with mates.
  • Prices are decent, especially for quality drinks like Murphy's, so you won't break the bank enjoying a proper session.
Cons
  • It's only open five days a week, which means you might have to plan around the closures if you're keen to pop in.
  • The online presence is a bit basic – just an Instagram page – so there isn't much info available if you want to check things out beforehand.
  • It's more focused on drinks than food, so if you're after a full meal, you might need to head elsewhere.
  • Tucked away in Stockport, it could be a trek for those not in the area, though it's worth the journey if you're a fan of Irish pubs.

I spend a fair bit of time in Ireland and this place serves the ONLY proper pint of Guinness I’ve ever in Manchester. It’s genuinely as good as any bar in Dublin. Not only that but it captures the heart and soul of a traditional Irish pub. What a find! 11/10
