About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about the Premier Inn in Luton Town Centre – it's one of those places that really nails the basics, you know? I love how it's smack in the middle of everything, just a short stroll from the train station and all the shops, which makes it ideal if you're zipping in for a night or need a base near the airport. The free parking is a absolute boon, saving you a bundle, and the staff? They're the real highlight, always up for a chat and ready to sort you out with a cuppa or help with the little things. Plus, the beds are dead comfy, and the breakfast is straightforward but satisfying, with the restaurant throwing in some nice pizzas to mix things up. On the flip side, though, some rooms could use a bit of TLC – we've heard tales of scuffs and smells that aren't quite up to par, and that shower pressure? It's a bit disappointing, like it's holding back when you need a proper wake-up call. The restaurant might not always be firing on all cylinders, which can be a drag if you're counting on it for dinner. All in all, it's a solid choice for a budget-friendly overnight, especially if you're after convenience over luxury, but it'd be even better with a spruce-up here and there. If you're planning a visit, I'd say go for it if you're keeping it simple, but keep expectations realistic for the full experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The location is spot on, right in the heart of Luton town centre, making it a breeze to pop over to the train station, shopping spots, or even the airport for a quick getaway.
  • Free parking next door is a real winner – no faffing about with meters or pricey car parks, just validate your ticket at reception.
  • The staff are absolute gems; they've got that friendly touch that makes you feel right at home, with some going the extra mile to help out families or offer a welcoming cup of tea.
  • Beds are super comfy, perfect for catching up on sleep after a long day, and the breakfast hits the spot with solid options to start your morning.
  • The restaurant serves up decent grub, including pizzas, and it's all conveniently under one roof for an easy meal without venturing out.
Cons
  • Some rooms feel a bit tired and basic, with things like scratches on the ceiling or dodgy paintwork that could do with a freshen-up.
  • Cleanliness isn't always up to scratch in certain areas, like grubby bathrooms or that odd whiff from the pipes that might put you off.
  • Shower pressure can be a letdown – it's not exactly invigorating, more like a trickle on a bad day.
  • The restaurant doesn't always run like clockwork, with some folks finding it closed when they expected it open, which is a bit frustrating.
  • Overall, it's functional but lacks a bit of polish, so if you're after something fancy, you might end up wanting more.

We arrived before 3pm on 8/5/24 and were offered to check in early for £10, which we declined. We were offered a very welcome cup of tea. Never had that before and a nice touch. The location is excellent for the airport and Luton centre is a 5 minute walk away. We also walked to Wardown Park and museum both very enjoyable. The rooms were comfortable, if a little dated but spotlessly clean, as is the restaurant and toilets. Breakfast was a treat, with friendly professional staff and nicely cooked and presented food. Good coffee, selection of teas and juices. Free parking at NCP next door when validated. Well done to all staff, you're professionalism and attention to detail made the stay.

Great location with secure, locked (at night) free parking. Room is extremely basic, bits of cellotape and scratches all over the ceiling. Had to keep bathroom door shut because strong smell of toilet pipes was unbearable. Very quiet and clean.

Great stay. Amanda couldn’t do enough for me and my family. Even kept my toddler entertained. Would rooms as you would expect from premier in clean and perfect for an overnight stay. Breakfast was good. Makes such a difference when you have friendly staff that go above and beyond to make your stay great!

This place needs closing for a complete refurbishment and staff training. Room was filthy, paintwork woeful, toilets barely flush and the water pressure in the shower is almost none existant. Thankfully the bed was comfortable. Staff member on arrival when asked told us the restaurant didn't open until six, when asked about nearby places to eat told us there's loads of places, just Google it! Also made a point of telling us they couldn't advise re breakfast as they've never worked that shift!! No staff around in the morning to report issues too, the poor chef was copping for lots of grumbles as he was the only one around. The lifts were filthy and patched up. I will never stay here again. Luckily the central location meant we could use Google to take us to good food and was easy to escape in the car the next morning.

Great free parking next door in the NCP (validate ticket at reception). Super comfy beds which were much appreciated after a long journey travelling back to the UK from holiday. Close to the town centre. Usual Thyme restaurant food, improved with the addition of pizzas.
