About This Pub

Ah, The Avenue – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Great Yarmouth, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute stars; they're friendly, helpful, and really make the place buzz with that warm, community vibe. The food's a big win too – plenty of people rave about it being tasty and great value, especially if you're popping in for a bite after a day out. And let's not forget the beer garden; it's a lovely spot for a relaxed chat over a drink, plus there's loads of parking, which is always a relief. They've got fun things going on like bingo and darts, which can turn an evening into a right good time. But, to keep it real, it's not all perfect – some say the food doesn't quite hit the mark every time, and that old-school decor might feel a bit dated if you're after something flashier. Oh, and watch out for the bar area; it can get a bit nippy, so you might need a jumper. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back night out, especially if you're in the area for a holiday – I'd say give it a go for the positives, but go in with realistic expectations.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The food is generally spot on – tasty, well-priced, and a real hit for a casual meal out.
  • There's a lovely beer garden that's perfect for enjoying a pint on a sunny day.
  • Plenty of parking available, which is a bonus when you're out and about.
  • Fun activities like bingo, pool, and darts add a great social vibe, turning a simple visit into a proper laugh.
Cons
  • The food can be a bit hit or miss; some folks find it just okay rather than outstanding.
  • The decor has that old-school pub feel, which might not suit everyone if you're after something more modern.
  • It can get a tad chilly in the bar area, so you might want to wrap up if you're sensitive to the cold.

It's a decent old school Pub, a lot of people saying the decor isn't great but I liked it, proper pub, food wasn't great, if your easily satisfied then you'll like it but I look for a little more than just "fine" these days. Nice beer garden and plenty of parking.

Pleasantly surprised with the food. Very honest, and nice presentation. 3 stars for atmosphere because it was cold in the bar area. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great value also.

Staying in Gt. Yarmouth for a few days and found The Avenue on Google and decided to give it a try. Food was really nice and reasonably priced. We were made to feel so welcome and even joined in with the weekly game of bingo. Had a really enjoyable evening. Thank you to Helen, staff and regulars
