About This Pub
Ah, The Auldhouse Arms – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? Tucked away in East Kilbride, it's got this wonderful mix of old-school pub vibes and a fresh twist on Scottish cuisine, making it perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates or a family meal. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really steals the show; think hearty steaks, creative salads, and options for all sorts of diets, all made with fresh local ingredients and served up at prices that won't break the bank – like their steak night or special menus that offer brilliant value. The staff are just lovely, always ready with a warm welcome and top-notch service that makes you feel looked after without any fuss. Plus, the events like live music and ceilidh nights add a real community spirit, turning an ordinary night out into something memorable. On the flip side, it's a shame it's shut on Tuesdays, and if you're bringing the dog, you'll have to stick to the Wee Bar since they're not allowed in the restaurant proper. Also, with the menu varying daily, it might not always hit the mark for specific dietary preferences, and it can get a bit crowded in that quaint village setting. All in all, though, it's a solid spot that does the Scottish pub tradition proud – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area; you might just find your new favourite haunt.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely lovely – it's got that warm, cosy Scottish pub feel that makes you want to settle in for the evening, with a touch of rustic charm and friendly vibes all around.
-
The food is a real highlight; they use fresh, local ingredients to create delicious dishes, from hearty steaks to vibrant salads and plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options that change daily – and it's all great value, like their £10 steak night or two courses for £25.
-
Service is spot on; the staff are welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, whether it's for a quick drink or a full meal.
-
They've got a fantastic lineup of events, like live music, ceilidh nights, and family-friendly gatherings, which really bring the community together and add to the fun.
-
It's dog-friendly in the Wee Bar, so you can pop in with your furry friend for a pint without any fuss.
Cons
-
It's closed on Tuesdays, which can be a bit of a nuisance if you're planning a mid-week outing.
-
Dogs aren't allowed in the main restaurant, so if you're dining in there, you might have to leave your four-legged mate behind.
-
The menu changes daily based on what's fresh, which is great for variety but means dietary options aren't always guaranteed – you'd need to check in advance if you've got specific needs.
-
Being tucked away in a village spot, it might not be the easiest place to get to if you're not local, and it can get quite busy, especially on event nights.

We dined here on a busy Sunday lunchtime! It was such a lovely atmosphere the second we walked in and were welcomed by a few members of staff. Our table was ready straight away. We ordered off the Fathers Day Menu was which was, in our opinion, incredible value for money, 2 courses for £25. We opted for the Duck Spring Rolls which were so fresh, especially the homemade dip that came with and the salad, we also had the Duck Parfait which is a favourite of mine anyway but it was delicious, the toasted bread was so fluffy but crisp too. For our mains we couldn’t have anything else but the Auldhouse Roast, wow wow wow. We both said we had never had a roast quite like it and we are regular roast dinner enthusiasts!! The gravy and Yorkshire pudding was absolutely the star of the show for us, we can’t wait to come back. The staff were so lovely too and constantly checked in with us and made sure we were okay! The friendliest little pub I can’t wait to plan my next visit, which will be very soon!!! Thank you🥰

We dined here for their recently launched breakfast menu and what can I say, we were so glad we did. The cooked breakfasts had a good range of options and catered for vegetarian and vegan tastes.
There is a lovely warm cosy atmosphere at the Auldhouse arms, it really does feel like an old friend and it’s good to see it going from strength to strength under its new management.
Well the full Scottish breakfast was absolutely exceptional, amongst the best I’ve ever had. My partner was raving about it too. Everything tasty fresh and great quality, nothing has been skimped here. Full marks for hot plates which kept the food nice and hot so you could savour every bite, this is something which a lot of places don’t do so huge credit to them for being ahead of the curve.
Excellent service, and very reasonable prices too. Enjoyed a latte and a fresh orange to wash the breakfast down with. My partner settled for the breakfast tea and again lovely brews all round, and the orange juice hit the spot. Set us up for the day and I think this has now become a regular weekend breakfast occasion now which is excellent news.
Highly recommend and thanks to the chef, cook waiting staff and management for excelling themselves. Very well done indeed!
Wow, what a fantastic wee pub. It has been years since I was last here, considering it is a 10 min drive from my house. We had a table booked for 13:30 arrived early, and received a warm welcome and shown to our table. The service was first class, and the food was amazing. For four we all had a starter and a main course each and 4 soft drinks, and we were £104.00 which for the service and quality of our meals was fantastic. Also purchased two scones to take home. Will certainly be back. A beautiful setting and all the staff were lovely, friendly, and professional. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic birthday lunch for my wife. Large power cut in the area but the staff dealt with it perfectly. Looking forward to another visit. Food was great, lots more to try on the menu & family feel old school pub atmosphere.
