About This Pub
Ah, the Oystercatcher – it's one of those reliable local haunts in East Kilbride that just feels like a breath of fresh air when you're out for a bite or a pint. From what I've gathered from chats with regulars, the food is spot on; think hearty classics that are straightforward, tasty, and won't leave you rummaging for extra cash. It's brilliant for families too, with events that keep the little ones entertained and a warm, community vibe that makes you want to linger. The staff really stand out – they're always cheerful and on hand for a quick natter, which adds that extra touch of homeliness. On the downside, though, some folks have mentioned that certain dishes can be a wee bit greasy, and it might not always have the buzz you're after if you're in the mood for a packed house. Still, it's a solid choice overall for a relaxed night out, especially if you're keeping an eye on the budget or tuning into the big games – just go in with realistic expectations and you're in for a treat.

-
A fantastic place to catch live sports with affordable pints and a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to settle in for the game.
Cons
-
Some dishes can be a bit greasy, like the haggis fritters, which might put you off if you're after something lighter.
-
It can feel a tad quiet at times, especially if you're hoping for a more lively atmosphere to get the evening buzzing.
-
There are occasional niggles about food quality, such as wondering if some ingredients are fresh or just bought in, which takes a bit of the shine off.

Great wee family meal tonight celebrating a birthday. Food fantastic, prices extremely reasonable, Staff excellent & friendly and a great atmosphere We were even given water for the dog. Special shout out to Kai, Heather & Andy for being friendly , helpful & polite. Would recommend eating here if you get a chance. It’s got a great menu with ample choices. All our meals were eaten & clean plates all round. The Katsu banquet, Epic New Yorker, Jerk Chicken were all delicious & the gravy burger & chicken burger got 10/10. Will definitely be back 🙂
The Oystercatcher is our local and it’s always a lovely wee time here. The staff has always been lovely, especially Louise, Alana, Heather and Jamie. It’s nice to have a small catch up while getting pints poured.
The food fills the stomach and is straightforward and tasty. Pints are affordable and always cold.
We’ve taken plenty of friends and family here when they’ve stayed with us and never a bad word has been said.
10/10 would recommend for an easy dinner and affordable pint.
Lovely visit to the Oystercatcher today for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Kids loved their bunny pancakes and their gift bags given from the main bunny himself 🐰
Went as a spur of the moment with my mum.
We were intending to go to a competitors bar for food but last minute said we would try out Oystercatcher.
Walked in and noted the restaurant was very quiet.
We found a table and looked at the menu. We both decided to order the £8 curry Wednesday deal.
The person at the bar was extremely polite and helpful and was noted they asked for allergens which was good. I have a dairy allergy.
The order was processed efficiently and drinks were handed to me to return to my table.
Our food arrived about 12 minutes later which was fine. Polite table service from the other members of staff.
Sadly the food wasn't up to much.
I found my curry to be very basic and dry. It didn't feel moist and any curry sauce felt dry. The rice wasn't good quality either. It felt poor and clumped together like it been overcooked.
I paid to upgrade to add naan bread to my order and was disappointed with how small it was. It also was brick hard and felt as thin as the poppadom.
Sadly the food let down the visit.
I see a lot of automated responses from other reviews probably handled via a corporate head office.
Id only try again if I had some sort of gift voucher towards another purchase. You can message me on here.
Service was very good front of house just the back of house and food quality let it down.
Ordered the award winning steak and rudders ale pie. It was some experience, I haven't had a steak so soft before.. I just hope these weren't bought in.
For a starter I went for the haggis fritters, which where lovely. The batter being a little greasy, maybe oil needing redone in the morning. Anyway, today a different selection and loved every bit.
