About This Pub

You know, when I think about the Premier Inn in East Kilbride, it's got that dependable hotel feel that's perfect if you're in Glasgow for work or a quick getaway – think clean rooms with all the basics sorted, and the staff really shine through with their warm service that makes you feel right at home. I've heard great things about the chef and the grub, which could be a nice treat after exploring places like the local ice rink or Calderglen Country Park. On the flip side, it's not without its rough edges; the building looks a tad worn out, and with talk of the restaurant possibly being replaced, it might not have that lively pub atmosphere you're after. Still, for what it is, it's a solid choice if you're after good value and helpful folks around, just keep in mind it might need a bit of a spruce-up to keep up with the times. If you're heading that way, I'd say give it a go for the positives, but temper your expectations on the aesthetics.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome, like sorting out an early check-in or offering helpful tips.
  • Rooms are comfy with all the essentials, including a powerful shower, free Wi-Fi, and tea-making facilities for a proper cuppa after a long day.
  • Free on-site parking is a real bonus, especially if you're driving around Glasgow.
  • It's got a welcoming vibe for families and those with accessibility needs, with options like family rooms and adapted bathrooms.
  • The food's a highlight, with mentions of a top-notch chef and solid breakfasts that set you up nicely for the day.
Cons
  • The place looks a bit tired and dated in spots, which might put you off if you're after something more modern.
  • There's some uncertainty with the restaurant – it seems like it might be closing soon, which is a shame for a quick bite or evening meal.
  • A couple of reviews mentioned it feeling like a dump at first glance, so it might not wow you straight away.
  • No clear operating hours listed, which could be a hassle if you're planning a visit and want to know when things are open.
  • It's part of a hotel setup, so if you're just popping in for a drink or meal, it might feel more functional than cosy like a traditional pub.

Loved my stay despite when first arriving thinking what a dump!. Friendly staff made the difference and the chef is first class so was his choice of music. Apparently this is another ex Beefeater restaurant to be demolished to make way for a breakfast room and Premier Plus Rooms. What a shame Apparently it was well used by local people but obviously Whitbread have their finger on the pulse. I hope they keep the chimney which is a masterpiece and a tribute to aasyer bricklayer.

Arrived early and requested an early check in. This was not available at that moment but a lovely lady called Lynne pulled off some magic and we were given a room 15 minutes later. This was very much appreciated as my daughter required somewhere to change and get READY for a gymnastic event. Thank you so much Lynne, you made my daughters weekend. Great service with a kind heart.

Stayed here a few times now for work, and after a long drive it’s always been relaxing and refreshing. The staff are spot on! From reception to the dinner service honestly can’t praise them enough. Hannah and Jen are assets to the company and made me feel so looked after. Customer service was above and beyond. Attentive, polite, nice, professional and friendly. A credit to your company! Makes a big difference to your stay - even though it was just a stop over. The Pizza was made fresh and would highly recommend if you want some comfort food.

After an air BnB let us down at the last minute, we managed to get rooms here. As it was a last-minute booking we had to pay full price for our rooms, so it wasn't cheap. The staff were very friendly and helpful when we booked in, with recommendations on where to eat. The hotel is very tired looking and the beds have had their day. The pillows felt like solid blocks of rubber, and the duvets were definitely past their sell by date, and the bathroom fan ran constantly all night long. As you can imagine, this led to a sleepless night being had by all. By far, the worst part of the visit was the smell in the corridors. It was truly awful, smelling like a guest had spent the evening out on the lash and had their colostomy bag burst on their way back to the room. The hotel is obviously aware of it as the background scent of heavy-duty cleaning agents showed that an attempt had been made to hide the vile odour.

We arrived here and was arrived and was greeted with a smiling face and the lady in question could not do enough to make us comfortable and is clearly a massive asset to the company and I was amazed when she said she was not the manager. I believed that the restaurant was closed and said on Google but it is not. The premier inn chain has standards and it reached them easily but did not go alot above it. The place upon arrival due to the carpark being neglected feels like it will disappoint but it didn't and considering the reasonable price it will exceed expectations easily.
