About This Pub
Ah, The Ashwood – it's one of those local gems that's had a bit of a glow-up recently, and you can really feel the difference when you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's become a go-to for folks wanting a relaxed spot for birthdays or music nights, with the staff going out of their way to make everyone feel at home – think helpful bar team and entertaining DJs that add a fun twist. The prices on drinks are fair, so you won't break the bank, and that large function room is a real bonus for hosting your own do. On the flip side, though, there are moments where things aren't quite up to scratch, like the odd instance of messiness from the previous evening that could spoil the atmosphere a bit. Plus, with early closing times, it might not suit those late-night chats over a pint. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're in the area and up for a friendly vibe, but I'd say it's worth keeping an eye on those little improvements to make it even better – honest feedback from one pub lover to another!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The refurbishment has really transformed The Ashwood into a fresh and inviting spot, making it feel welcoming and clean for a good night out.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful – folks like Sandra and DJ Ron get a big thumbs up for their efforts in creating a community vibe.
-
It's brilliant for events and parties, with a spacious function room and fun nights like Northern Soul and Motown that keep things lively.
-
Drinks are reasonably priced, which is always a win when you're out for a pint or celebrating with mates.
Cons
-
There have been a few grumbles about cleanliness, like finding remnants from the night before, which can put a damper on things.
-
The closing times seem a bit early for a pub – typically wrapping up around 4 PM, which might cut short your evening plans.
-
With an overall rating of 3.8, it's clear not everyone's experience has been spot-on, and the lack of a website or proper online presence makes it feel a tad under the radar.

They redone new pub and it’s amazing - good service and clean
Held our son’s 21st Birthday Party at the Ashwood today. Everyone had a great time. Pub is much better following its refurbishment this year.
Staff were really helpful and friendly and the drinks were reasonable priced. What more could you want? 👍🏻
Shout out to the DJ Ron who was very accommodating to my wife and sons music requests 😂
Such a nice place after the refurbishment. Friendly, welcoming staff and Sandra is working so hard to make this pub an asset to the local community. Large function room which is available for a host of events.
The Northern Soul, Funk and Motown night was absolutely brilliant! Fabulous dancers showed up and the music was raging hot 🔥
I think the pub has recently been taken over and they're offering lots of events through the month.
I'd definitely recommend this night, the dance floor is big and the seating is around the outside on comfy banquettes - bar staff ladies are so welcoming and very quick to get drinks.
Lovely staff and venue was great for my daughters party. Would be 5 star if it wasn't for remnants of Saturday night on the way in on the Sunday. Will visit again.
