About This Pub

Ah, The Angel Microbrewery, what a treat it is! I've got to say, it's one of those places that just draws you in with its warm, welcoming vibe and that unmistakable pub charm. The beers are a standout – they're brewing them fresh on site with local hops, and there's such a great variety that you'll find something to suit whatever you're in the mood for, whether it's a crisp ale or something a bit more adventurous. Pair that with some solid homemade food like burgers and tacos, especially with those half-price deals on Wednesdays, and you've got yourself a proper feast. The staff really make the place shine too; they're so approachable and add to that friendly, eclectic crowd that makes every visit feel special. Oh, and don't miss the hidden beer garden or the rooftop terrace – it's brilliant for soaking up the sun with a cold one in hand. They're also ace for events, with live music up in the chapel; it's got this fantastic historical feel that makes gigs even more memorable. On the flip side, it's not perfect for everyone – I get that if you're looking for something super sleek or if it's a busy night, it might come across as a tad old-school or packed out. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a genuine, enjoyable pub experience in Nottingham; I'd definitely recommend popping in for a pint and seeing what all the fuss is about.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beers are absolutely spot on – brewed right on site with locally grown hops, and they've got a cracking selection that caters to all tastes.
  • The staff are proper friendly and welcoming; you'll feel right at home, whether you're chatting with them or even bumping into the brewer himself.
  • It's got that lovely historical charm with a unique building full of character, plus hidden gems like a beer garden and a sunny rooftop terrace – perfect for a relaxing pint.
  • The food is spot on too, with seasonal homemade dishes, tasty burgers, and even half-price deals on Wednesdays; it's unfussy but hits the mark every time.
  • They host brilliant events like live music and gigs in the upstairs chapel, making it a lively spot for a night out with something for everyone.
Cons
  • It might not wow every visitor; one person found their experience just okay, perhaps if you're after something more modern or flashy.
  • As an old-school pub, it could feel a bit quirky or crowded at times, especially during events, so it pays to plan ahead if you're after a quiet spot.

Nice pub, been served quickly. Has some decent selection of beer and interesting design. You can read some interesting story about the place on the internet, so as much as my visit was just okay, for the sake of its history is worth visiting.

Our first time visiting this establishment, we travelled to see Dunes, an excellent band from Newcastle. We enjoyed our food, there's a great selection of craft ales available and all the staff are polite, friendly and helpful. The old chapel upstairs is where the bands play, it's a truly beautiful building and full credit to the sound engineer, the sound was excellent. We will definitely revisit and if you love live music, it's a hidden gem!

Our first visit for a gig, and what a fabulous place! The building itself is a wonderful rabbit warren full of history, and the Chapel venue upstairs is superb. The sound is 👌 with the sound engineer commanding from the pulpit 🙏 We ate before the gig, and both had the Buffalo Chicken burger, which was excellent, so tasty 😋 There is an amazing selection of 🍻 as to be expected. All the staff were friendly and there was a great atmosphere.
