About This Pub

Ah, The Andalusian – it's one of those spots in Carlisle that I've heard mates rave about for its cosy, classy feel and the way the staff make you feel right at home from the get-go. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the tapas is where they shine, with flavours that are spot-on and dishes like the beef and chicken that sound absolutely mouthwatering. It's got that relaxed bar atmosphere that's just perfect for catching up over a drink or a meal. But, and I say this as a fair word of warning, some folks have mentioned the portions aren't as generous as you'd hope for the price tag – you might end up still feeling a bit peckish after shelling out £20 per person. There've been a couple of gripes about service not being entirely smooth, like food coming out in bits rather than all at once, or running short on glasses when things get busy. Still, with an overall rating pushing 4.3, it's got more hits than misses, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just maybe plan for a cheeky extra snack to tide you over!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The service is top-notch and really friendly, making you feel welcome right away.
  • It's got a classy, inviting atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed evening out.
  • The food, especially the tapas, has some cracking flavours that keep you coming back for more.
  • With a solid 4.3 rating from plenty of folks, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a good time overall.
Cons
  • Portions can be a bit skimpy for the price, leaving you feeling a tad short-changed, especially at £20 a head.
  • Some dishes, like the fajitas or mixed grills, could do with more meat or fillings to make them feel more substantial.
  • Service might hit a few bumps, such as food arriving in dribs and drabs or running out of basics like wine glasses during busy times.
  • Not every meal hits the mark; a few reviews mentioned everything tasting a bit too breaded and underwhelming.

Good experience at the Andalusian. The service was great and the restaurant setting is classy. The fajitas had decent flavour, although there could have been more meat on the mixed grill. I would have preferred if I didnt have to fold the fajita myself but it was good value overall.

Poor quality tapas , everything breaded and certainly not enough food to go round. Very disappointed and still very hungry would not recommend as definitely not worth £20 per person . Staff were lovely and no problem with venue just lack of food.

Being a lover of tapas I noticed this restaurant online. A nice sunny day in Carlisle so a venture here was a good idea. I must be honest it took a wee bit finding But very happy I did. Walked in to be met by a very pleasant young lady who showed me to a nice table by the window. I was given a menu and my drink order taken and brought over to me. The menu was great Brilliant selection of Tapas also main meals. 3 tapas for £22 was a no brainer I opted for the prawns in spicey oil with bread Crispy pork with slaw Beef tacos Very happy with my choice. Every dish was different and delicious Sitting taking my time to savour every bite with another cold beer was great. I will definitely come back as there were more things I'd love to try. I only put the atmosphere down as I was the only one in bad timing from me tbh. I had a chat with the owners who took pride in what they did Please give this gem a try if you're in Carlisle you won't be disappointed

We were celebrating with a big group of people and ordered the Tapas, the food quality was average but the amount was very poor for £20. Also they didn't serve the tapas at once, rather in bits. The staff was friendly but they ran out of wine glasses in the first half an hour and served the (not so cheap) wine in tumblers. The live music was good and the atmosphere was great.

First time we had ever had food from here. Used to go to the bar often but never had the food. WHAT A MISTAKE. Absolutely fantastic. We had the tapas and it was fabulous. The beef was so soft, the chicken fell apart and the fish tacos were to die for. 100% will be booking a table once lockdown is lifted.
