About This Pub

Ah, The Anchor Beefeater – it's one of those reliable spots that always hits the mark for a casual outing with mates. I have to say, the food really shines here; their lunchtime deals are an absolute steal, with mains under £8 that leave you feeling satisfied without emptying your wallet. The staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which adds that warm, homely touch. It's got a great vibe too, with options for breakfast, outdoor seating, and even live sport on the telly, making it ideal for everything from a quick lunch to a relaxed evening. On the downside, though, some dishes have sneaky add-ons that can catch you out and push the total spend higher than planned, and the opening hours aren't always straightforward, so you'd want to confirm before heading over. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after feel-good food and service, but just go in with your eyes open to those little niggles for the best time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is spot on with great value deals, like those lunchtime mains under £8 – perfect for a budget-friendly bite.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always going the extra mile to make your visit enjoyable.
  • They've got a solid range of menus, from hearty breakfasts to evening specials, and even show live sport for a bit of added fun.
  • Outdoor dining options make it a lovely spot for a relaxed catch-up, especially on a nice day.
Cons
  • Some menu items come with extra charges, which can bump up the bill more than you'd expect.
  • Opening times might vary, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any disappointment.
  • While the service is generally top-notch, it could feel a tad hit-or-miss if the place is packed.

Visited with friends for lunchtime meal, stuck to lunchtime menu. Food and service were good (Jake was looking after us). Cost for 2 course lunch plus coffee £15, good value. Will come again

We visited on a Saturday evening for drinks and a meal with friends who were staying at the premier inn next door. We were served some perfect, delicious cocktails at the bar by Josh along with some friendly conversation. We were then shown to our table by a lovely lady called Zoe, who explained our menu options, gave some advice and took our order for some more drinks and then our food. Our food arrived promptly, was cooked perfectly, and was really tasty. Our server was really attentive even though the restaurant was full. After we had eaten, we moved back into the bar for some more drinks as it was such a welcoming atmosphere. We met our friends for breakfast the following morning. This time, we were greeted by a very cheery man called Karl. He explained the way breakfast was served, buffet style, again the food was perfectly cooked and delicious and the service we received could not be faulted. Definitely worth a return visit

We came here for valentine's evening. We were drawn in by the offer of 2 courses for £18 being able to add a third course for just £3 each. Unfortunately there were items in the menu that were at an extra cost again so we ended up spending double what we'd planned but it was really nice. What really let the place down was how cold it was in there. Both me and my partner came away shivering we were so cold. They had made an effort with the tables though with it being valentine's which was a nice little touch. And service was good.

I recently visited the Beefeater in Scunthorpe, and my experience was outstanding thanks to both the exceptional service and the quality of the food. Natasha, one of the staff members, truely went above and beyond to ensure our visit was perfect. Her friendly demeanor, professionalism, and attention to detail made us feel incredibly welcomed. She was attentive without being intrusive, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring everything was just right throughout the meal. Natasha’s exemplary service paired with the delicious food made this a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend the Beefeater in Scunthorpe and will certainly return in the future.

First time visiting and it was really good. We were stopping next door in the premier inn for the night and purchased the meal deal with the room. 2 course meal and a drink and all you can eat breakfast the next morning for £27.99 great value and the dinner and breakfast were both equally as good. Our young children loved the kids' meals they had an ate every bit. Friendly staff throughout and fast service.
