About This Pub
You know, Ashby Lodge has that cosy, down-to-earth charm that makes it a favourite for a casual get-together with mates or family. I love how the carvery really shines – the meat's always tender, the veg is fresh and well-cooked, and it's such good value that you leave feeling satisfied without breaking the bank. The staff are genuinely cheerful and attentive, which adds to the welcoming feel, and it's brilliant for those who fancy watching the big matches on the screens while enjoying a pint. Plus, being dog-friendly and family-oriented means it's perfect if you're out with the little ones or your four-legged companion. On the other hand, it does fill up quickly, especially for the carvery, so planning ahead is key to snag a spot. And honestly, it can get a bit too warm inside depending on where you're seated, so you might want to dress light or head to the beer garden if the weather's on your side. The menu's got some quirks too, like needing to add on certain items separately, which might catch you off guard. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back meal or a catch-up, as long as you're prepared for the busier moments – I'd say it's worth a visit for the good times it delivers.

The inside can feel a bit too warm in places, which might make for an uncomfortable visit on hotter days.

Sunday carvery.
Would definitely recommend booking in advance as it is always busy. The restaurant itself can be unbearably warm depending on where you are seated so dress accordingly.
Food was great, well stocked, fresh and tasty. Bargain for the price. I've been numerous times and this has always been what I can expect.
Sadly, this particular day however they appeared EXTREMELY understaffed. The carver had to start his shift early but was the only server and despite his best efforts was overstretched and very stressed... The queue for the carvery was throughout the entire restaurant for the 2 hours that we were dining.
"Takeaway" carvery was also slowing the process as multiple orders were packed in boxes in the same queue by customers. I would certainly recommend an alternative queue or method of prepping these in future. One person packing up an entire family of meals really isn't quick!
Overall an enjoyable meal and I will come again but I hope they are more mindful of their staff in future and perhaps turn away walk ins when over stretched. People over profits!
Food was very good. Menu was a bit confusingly crafty as FEB for 4.99 was with no toasties you have to buy separately for £1.5. ultimate has that included for 7.49 and I would have gone for that if not confused. Coffee (latte)was a bit too strong. I went to the toilet and my coffee was taken away, as there were no staff seeing me going to. One gripe with food was that tomato instead of being grilled as in the menu was just raw. But overall I'm really glad I ate here.
Traditional carvery fare but our group of eight came in for breakfast and weren’t disappointed. Good breakfasts, including vegetarian choice. Excellent value and friendly service. Location is in the shadow of the iconic Scunthorpe steel works.
Cannot rate this place enough it’s definitely super dog friendly ( have to sit in bar but super cosy) and very welcoming staff nothing is too much even when it’s absolutely packed out and not to mention the unreal food menu so much choice and carvery which was well worth going for alone! My partner ordered from normal menu and he absolutely loved his meal we will 100% be returning this is by far the best greene king we have been to!
We had lunch at Ashby Lodge on a Friday. It was pretty busy which is always a good sign. We both had a carvery which was lovely, the meat was tender and tasty and a good selection of vegetables all well cooked. All staff were friendly and helpful and would gladly go again .
