About This Pub

Ah, The Almond Tree – it's one of those neighbourhood pubs that really grows on you once you're inside. I have to say, the atmosphere is spot on; the staff are dead chatty and make you feel like part of the gang, and the locals are just as welcoming, which is always a plus for a good night out. You've got that free pool table to keep things lively, and with all those TV screens blasting Sky Sports, it's ideal if you're keen on catching the latest match with a cold beer in hand. The drinks are fairly priced and hit the spot, especially with some cracking offers on bottles. On the flip side, it's not the prettiest place – hidden away near some garages, so it might not grab your attention right away, and there have been a few gripes about the pumps acting up now and then, which could spoil the fun if you're set on a particular ale. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together; nothing overly flashy, but it delivers that warm, community feel that makes a pub visit worthwhile. If you're in Stevenage and fancy a straightforward, friendly spot, I'd give it a go – just keep your expectations realistic for a typical local haunt.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • There's a free pool table, which is a brilliant bonus for a casual night out with mates.
  • They've got loads of TV screens showing Sky Sports and football, perfect if you're into watching the game with a pint.
  • The beer is reasonably priced and tastes spot on, with some great offers on drinks too.
  • It's got a private hire room, which is handy for gatherings or events with friends.
Cons
  • The building itself isn't the most inviting; it's tucked away off the main road among garages, so it might not catch your eye at first.
  • There have been occasional issues with the pumps, which could put a dampener on things if you're after a specific drink.
  • It's a bit of an average spot overall – nothing too fancy, so it might not wow you if you're looking for something more unique.

Went here to play darts. Five new dart throws in the bar. Offers on bottled drinks. Had problem with pumps the evening we visited most people adapted with this. Friendly atmosphere in the bar we used.

Went for a quick pint of a Saturday lunchtime. The pub is off the main road, in amongst the garages. It is not an inviting building. That said the locls were friendly and the service was great. A good average pub.
