About This Pub
Ah, The Alma – it's one of those unassuming little spots in Cambridge that quickly wins you over with its charm. Picture this: you're settling in with a perfectly kept pint of real ale, surrounded by folks chatting away, and maybe catching a rugby match on the screens – it's just brilliant for that. They've got some cracking events too, like the live music nights or the quiz, which always add a bit of excitement without any fuss. The food's straightforward and satisfying, with options like fish and chips or curry deals that won't set you back much, and the staff are genuinely welcoming, making it feel like a proper local haunt. On the flip side, it can be a challenge to track down if you're not a regular around these parts, and things do liven up during matches, so if you're seeking somewhere dead quiet, it might not quite fit the bill. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening out, where the good times and good value shine through, and I'd say it's worth popping in for a try if you're in the area.

Cons
-
It's tucked away in a quiet corner of Cambridge, which might make it a bit tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area.

Can get quite lively during big sports events or popular nights, so it might not be the best spot if you're after a peaceful pint.
-
The menu sticks to classic pub grub, which is lovely but could feel a tad limited if you're in the mood for something more adventurous or fancy.

It has been an excellent selection we discovered at a quiet corner of Cambridge. The Rugby boys and the cool, cosy, comfy ambience added an extra flavour to our lunch. Loved the fish&chips with sticky toffy pudding. You must try that too. The lady serving the food has been a super host!
Came here at the start of the day for a beautiful pint of Guinness and to watch the Saturday lunch time game. Left after 2 pints to explore Cambridge. During our day in Cambridge, we couldn't find anywhere to eat, So we came back to The Alma. I can highly recommend that if you want great priced food then come here. The pie I had was one of the best I have had, absolutely delicious. Do not be put off with the location, just add this place as part of your walk around Cambridge.
Great bar to watch live rugby matches. Always a good atmosphere.
We called in the Alma as we had walked in Cambridge quite a ways. The service, food and atmosphere was excellent. If there was a place anywhere in the world you would want to just drop in on, this is it. Especially if you are a rugby union fan.
The gammon, egg and chips were amazing. Value for money in Cambridge, top of the list.
The wonders of Cask Marque and Google found this gem of a back street local. Small beer garden to side plus some in front. Good real ale pub. Had another new brewery
..Milton. pint of Spartan
