About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Admiral Nelson – it's one of those pubs in Twickenham that just feels like a proper local gem, with its cosy nooks and a Thai kitchen that's often spot on for a relaxed night out. I love how the staff are so friendly and engaging; they really make the place buzz with their welcoming chats and efficient service, especially when you're sorting out an event or just popping in for a pint. The food's a highlight too – think fresh, flavoursome Thai dishes that are generally generous and perfect for sharing, paired with a cracking range of drinks that cater to all tastes. And don't miss the weekly quizzes or live music; they add that extra spark to keep things entertaining. On the downside, a few have noted that some portions, like the Pad Thai, aren't as hearty as you'd hope, which could be a letdown if you're after a filling meal. All in all, it's a solid choice for a catch-up or special occasion, but it's worth keeping those portion quirks in mind to manage expectations – still, I'd say it's well worth a visit for the good vibes and tasty grub.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely engaging and make you feel right at home, always up for a chat and adding to the fun vibe.
  • They've got a brilliant selection of beers, wines, spirits, and craft lagers – perfect for settling in with a drink by the fire.
  • The Thai food is fresh and tasty, with generous portions on most dishes, making it a treat for sharing with mates over a meal.
  • It's got a cosy, comfy atmosphere with weekly pub quizzes and live music on Saturdays, which really livens things up.
  • Ideal for private events or group gatherings, like wakes or dinners, with helpful management that makes everything run smoothly.
Cons
  • Some dishes, like the Pad Thai, can have smaller portions that might leave you wanting a bit more, as a few folks have mentioned.
  • There might be occasional inconsistencies with food sizes, so it's worth checking if you're going for a big group feed.

My regular pub since uni, lovely local vibes, friendly customers and good beer selection. Organised a wake there recently and the staff and manager were excellent and made it all easy. Tasty Thai food at reasonable prices for a group. Thanks for all the help on a difficult day.

Lovely local pub which we booked, for a group dinner of 12 people, to try their Thai cuisine. I (as well as another guest) was disappointed by the portion size of the Pad Thai, however it seemed other dishes were reasonable portions. I tried mango sticky rice for the first time, for dessert, but was disappointed by the presentation compared to the expectations/standards an earlier Google search had set. Given this is the only dessert (other than scoops of ice cream) on their menu, I would have expected a little more pride/effort.
