About This Pub
Ah, TGI Fridays in Castleford – it's one of those places that always pops up when you're after a casual American-style meal, isn't it? I have to say, on the bright side, they've got some brilliant offers that make it ideal for a family outing or a birthday bash; the staff can be absolute stars, jumping in with a cheerful song that really lifts the mood, and the kids' deals are a winner if you're trying to keep everyone happy without spending a fortune. It's conveniently tucked away near Xscape, so it's perfect for rounding off a day of shopping or thrills. But let's be honest, it's not all smooth sailing – some meals have fallen flat, with complaints about cold fries or portions that don't quite justify the price, and waiting around for food can be a bit of a drag. Service varies too; while some servers are spot on, others might come across as a tad brusque, which can sour the experience. Overall, if you're up for a relaxed vibe and don't mind the occasional off day, it's worth a punt, but maybe keep your expectations in check for the grub and aim for one of those deal days to get the best out of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff can be really welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home, especially during special occasions like birthdays where they add a fun touch with their singing.
-
It's got some cracking deals on offer, like kids eating free and bottomless options, which make it a great spot for family days out or a cheeky treat without breaking the bank.
-
The location's spot on if you're after a bite near Xscape or the shopping outlets – perfect for grabbing a meal after some adventuring around Castleford.
-
The seating's comfortable, and it's a relaxed place for a casual get-together, with plenty of American-inspired vibes to enjoy.
Cons
-
Food quality can be hit or miss, with some folks complaining about cold, rubbery chips and meals that don't quite hit the mark, leaving you a bit disappointed.
-
Service isn't always up to scratch – a few have mentioned rude staff or long waits for dishes, which can put a damper on the whole experience.
-
Portions might feel a tad small for the price, and some grub, like cakes, has been described as dry and past its best, making it not worth the spend.
-
The atmosphere can be a bit dim and underwhelming at times, especially if the place is quiet, which might not live up to expectations for a lively night out.

First time I've ordered delivery from these in years can say I won't be ordering again 16.99 for a few cold rubber fries and chicken and the glaze had a weird taste. Also the slice of cake that came with it had to be slung was unetable was really drying was like it was made 2 week ago
COMPLETE GARBAGE , TGIs has literally hit the lowest abysmal quality i've seen.
Just been served a Smashed Burger, that was immediately returned, it looked like a kids burger , nothing with it, a few chips that were terrible and hard and a tiny burger. Can’t believe they can push that out with a straight face for £21 . TGIs now off the list for good, will never be returning. Beyond abysmal!
That’s a small plate it’s on too!
I swapped it for chicken strips so not to disrupt a birthday meal but they were equally as bad, just chewy and hard, the little bit of salad looked like it had been left on the floor for a week... I would have walked out if it hadn't been a family birthday, but seriously it was beyond poor. £125 and I was fuming. Never again.
This TGI Fridays is comfortable with good seating, although the lighting is a bit dim. The food is average, but the wait for the dishes was quite long. What stood out was the birthday celebration. A few staff members sang a fun and quick song, creating a great atmosphere for a birthday. It's a nice spot if you're looking to celebrate a special occasion!
As soon as we walked in the place was empty, wasnt happy with where we was sat so we kindly asked the waiter to move us,then complained about how the work place was being cleaned. Which was fair enough it would be okay if she wasnt so rude. The food was awful i paid £28 and the piece of lettuce supposedly "salad" ive linked the photo of the meal...as i then go to eat with the cutlery i see the state of them😳overall experience wasnt nice definitely wouldnt recommend and wont be returning.
Went for bottomless brunch 28/01/25 our server/barman Jamie was very accommodating from taking our food order to making sure we had drinks throughout, all staff was polite and friendly food was piping hot and great value for money.
