About This Pub
Ah, Teardrop – what a gem it is in the heart of Oxford! I have to say, it's one of those places that really captures the spirit of a proper local pub, but with a fresh twist on things. You'll love the way they've put together this ever-changing selection of beers from nearby breweries; it's all about celebrating the best of Oxfordshire's craft scene, and there's something genuinely exciting about trying out new flavours with their curated flights – ideal for sharing with mates on a lazy afternoon. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a natter and making you feel right at ease, which adds to that homely feel. Plus, being in the historic Covered Market means you're surrounded by a lively buzz, with a bit of history thrown in for good measure. On the flip side, it's a nano pub, so space is at a premium – you might find yourself standing or squeezing in if it gets busy, and it's not the spot for a big group gathering. Still, if you're after an authentic, unpretentious experience with top-notch local brews and a welcoming atmosphere, Teardrop is well worth seeking out. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone keen on exploring Oxford's beer scene without the fuss.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely brilliant – a curated mix of fresh, local brews from Oxfordshire and beyond, making every visit feel like a mini beer festival.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready with recommendations or a chat about your favourite tipples, which really makes you feel at home.
-
It's set in the historic Covered Market, adding a lovely buzz and character to the place – soak in that vibrant atmosphere while enjoying your pint.
-
They've got great options for exploring new flavours, like beer flights, and it's even dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry mate along for the fun.
-
Being a nano pub, it champions small-batch and local producers, giving you access to exclusive beers that you won't find just anywhere.
Cons
-
Space is a bit tight with limited seating, so it might not be the best spot if you're after a comfy, spacious area to settle in for the evening.
-
As it's quite small, it can get cosy during busier times, which means you might have to queue or stand if you're popping in at peak hours.
-
The focus is heavily on beers and local brews, so if you're not in the mood for that or fancy a wider range of drinks, it could feel a tad limited.

Micropub serving church hanbrewery beers in half or 2/3 pints and also selling their selection of bottled beers. A limited amount of seating available in the covered market. They also serve wine and freshly baked pizzas in the adjoining units
Local producer with good choices (for those who appreciate beers). Even the dog could be part of the experience. Service was great very friendly and helpful staffs.
Popped into the Covered Market to find this CAMRA 2024 Good Beer Guide bar. Paulicarus and Jorvic joined me in a small Milk Stout from their own micro brewery. Church Hanbrewery. A new one for me to tick off. Very friendly and informative visit. He even knew my local pubback home.
Great bar in Oxford's covered market. The Teardrop and Cellar Door is a great place to take a break from your shopping. Selling craft beers and a great selection of wine by the glass/carafe/bottle at a reasonable price. They do sell snacks , but you are welcome to eat food from one of the market's other eateries, at their tables (if you are having a drink of course !). Wine and beer flights both available, and owners are super friendly.
Superb hidden gem in Oxford. Serving cask & keg beer as well as stocking only their own or local breweries beers, and great spirits. They also have a little wine shop attached. Lovely location in covered market. That was a nice experience. Worth to visit again.
