About This Pub
Ah, Tank & Paddle – it's one of those places in Manchester that just draws you in with its warm, inviting feel, especially if you're after a solid pint or a cheeky cocktail deal. I love how they've got this huge range of craft beers and spirits, making it easy to find something that suits your taste, and the offers like two-for-one cocktails add a nice touch for keeping things affordable. Plus, with screens everywhere, it's brilliant for settling in with mates to watch the footy or rugby – you feel right in the thick of it. On the flip side, though, the food's not always up to scratch; we've had experiences where the chips were oddly bland and the portions didn't quite satisfy, which is a shame when you're hoping for a proper meal alongside your drinks. Still, the staff are always up for a chat and quick to help, so overall, it's a solid choice if you're prioritising the drinks and atmosphere over a gourmet bite – just go in with your expectations set accordingly, and you'll likely have a good time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
They've got a brilliant selection of craft beers and cocktails, which really makes for a great night out with friends.
-
It's a top spot for watching live sports, with TVs dotted all over the place so you won't miss a moment of the action.
-
The staff are really helpful and friendly, and there are fun offers like the Mixr app that can snag you a free drink.
-
The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, perfect for groups or events like hen dos or catching up over a pint.
Cons
-
The music can be blasted a bit too loud, especially during big games, which drowns out the commentary and spoils the vibe.
-
Food quality is a mixed bag; some dishes like fish and chips come with too much batter and lack flavour, leaving you underwhelmed.
-
The TV screens are on the small side, so if you're there for a major match, it might not feel as immersive as you'd hope.
-
Portions can be a tad skimpy, with some meals feeling a bit empty on the plate and not quite hitting the spot.

Do not book a table here to watch football, they'll play music very loudly over the top of it. 'Reach For The Stars' playing over the Champions League anthem is not the one. A bar full of people wanting to watch the Champions League final but management refused to turn the music off or even down. Even the 'DJ' was watching the match. People were told to stand upstairs if they wanted to watch without music - people were then told off for bunching up together upstairs. We left before half-time.
Big range of beers and a good place to watch sport as there are TVs all over the place. The food was below average - had some quite poor fish and chips. Too much batter on the fish and the chips were oddly flavourless. Much of the plate was empty and several of the sauce bottles I was provided with didn’t actually have enough sauce in them.
The atmosphere was pretty poor and the staff quite unfriendly. Feels like a big venue that’s run as a big venue where they take patrons for granted.
Good for a big group or if you’re keen to watch sport but wouldn’t recommend going there if you’re after good food. I was ostensibly there to watch football but didn’t stick around.
The staff were testing some kind of weird sound effects as well which was uncomfortable.
There was a large number of vegetarian/vegan options though so good for folks who don’t like meat.

Serves food midweek which was genuinely tricky to find in other sports bars (O'Neills wasn't serving food on a Wednesday night)
Decent atmosphere
Lots of TV screens for football, although they're all a bit small
Loads of beer choices if you like hoppy pales and session IPAs

Food is dreadful. Burger was awful. Frozen heated through rubbish, charged at gourmet prices.
All the craft beers are basically the same type. Zero variety.
We recently visited Tank & Paddle at Manchester Printworks, and it was an all-around fantastic experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a casual night out.
The food was absolutely brilliant! There was a great selection on the menu, catering to all tastes, and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. Whether you’re after a classic dish or something a bit more unique, this place has it covered.
The staff were another highlight of the evening. They were friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about providing top-notch service. It really added to the overall enjoyment of our visit.
If you’re looking for a great bar and restaurant in Manchester with good vibes, excellent food, and fantastic staff, Tank & Paddle should be at the top of your list. Highly recommended!
Had a great visit here. The staff were really helpful and showed us the Mixr app to get a free drink and start to use.
The cocktail selection was good and offers in place at the time. Nice decor and atmosphere.
