About This Pub

Ah, the Talbot Inn – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its community vibe and that homely feel, especially on a sunny day when you can nip out to the beer garden. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat and dishing out tips on the menu, which is packed with crowd-pleasers like the Katsu chicken or a classic burger that won't break the bank. It's brilliant for sports fans too, with all the live action from events like the Women's Euros or the Lions tour playing on the screens. On the flip side, though, there have been a couple of grumbles about the food not always living up to the hype – think dry steaks or meals that feel a bit rubbery – so it might pay to stick to the safer choices if you're popping in. Overall, it's a solid spot for a relaxed get-together, and with perks like plenty of parking and being family and dog-friendly, you'd be hard-pressed not to enjoy yourself, as long as you keep things in perspective for a balanced night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and great recommendations – it's like chatting with mates behind the bar.
  • A warm and cosy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, perfect for catching up with friends or watching the big sports events like the Women's Euros.
  • The food hits the spot with tasty options like the steak wrap, Katsu chicken, and burgers – and it's good value, especially for a hearty meal under £10.
  • Plenty of parking and family-friendly vibes, plus it's dog-friendly and has a beer garden, so it's ideal for a relaxed day out.
  • They've got top facilities like Sky Sports and a historic pub feel, making it a solid spot for enjoying live rugby or just unwinding with a pint.
Cons
  • Food quality can be hit or miss, with some experiences turning out dry or underwhelming, like that disappointing mixed grill that left a bad taste.
  • A few recent reviews suggest it's not always consistent, so you might have a brilliant visit one day and a less impressive one the next.
  • The pub's operating hours are straightforward, but with early closing times for food, it could feel a bit limiting if you're out late.

Started coming to this pub quite regularly. The staff are very friendly and there’s always a lovely atmosphere. The Katsu chicken is my favourite item on the menu with a side of onion rings. I was served by Brad today and he gave excellent service and always recommends the best dishes on the menu. Would 100% recommend for any occasion!

Me and my wife had a meal at the talbot pub on nottingham read manfiekd on the 4/2/2025 it was the worst food I've come across, I had the mix grill the steak was 4" around &very dry i ask where is the steak was ,they reply thats how it comes to them pre cooked, the chicken was like dry rubber over cooked, my wife's burger was burnt & dry ,we made a complaint about it ,the chicken was replaced, the steak wasn't, they said thats the size of it when they get it ,they offered us a free drink which i find was a insult considering both meals cost over £30

Good value for money. Just over £10 for a nice tasty burger, chips, onion rings and, my go to soft drink, slimline tonic. After a job interview - nice treat. Nice atmosphere here. The bunting is out for the big royal shin dig. The sun is shining through the windows. It's warm finally and I'm watching the cars go by. Just saw a bright blue Chevrolet pickup. I love the hubbub from other punters too. Laughing and joshin each urged. Nice atmosphere.
