About This Pub

Ah, the Rushley in Mansfield – it's one of those local spots that feels like a reliable old mate, you know? From what I've gathered, the staff are top-notch, always polite and on point, which really lifts the whole experience. The food's a winner too, with a good mix of pub classics and a bit of global flair, and those deals like 30% off mains make it even more appealing for a casual bite. It's brilliant for families or if you're out with the dog, offering a calm atmosphere and a lovely garden to soak up the sun. Plus, with quizzes and events on offer, there's always something to get stuck into for a fun evening. On the flip side, though, it does have its off moments; a few folks mentioned it lacks that real heart and soul, feeling a tad ordinary at times, and there were niggles about food not coming out in the right order, which could spoil things for those with little ones. Overall, it's a decent choice if you're after a straightforward, enjoyable pub visit without any fuss, but it might not be the place for something truly unforgettable – still, I'd say it's worth popping in for a pint and a chat.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and really make you feel welcome, with attentive service that stands out from the crowd.
  • The food is tasty and offers great variety, from classic pub meals to global dishes, and it's reasonably priced with some cracking deals like 30% off mains.
  • It's a fantastic spot for families and groups, with a clean, calm atmosphere and even a dog-friendly policy that lets you bring your furry mates along.
  • The pub garden is a real gem for enjoying drinks and meals outdoors when the weather's nice, adding to that relaxed, local vibe.
  • There's plenty going on with events like quizzes and music nights, making it a lively place for a good night out.
Cons
  • It can feel a bit lacking in that special heart and soul, like it's missing a certain spark that makes some pubs truly memorable.
  • Service timing with food might not always hit the mark, such as kids' meals not coming out before the adults, which could frustrate families.
  • While the food is solid, it's not exactly extraordinary – more of a reliable option than something that'll blow you away.

This was a revisit to the Rushley (last visit was in 2019). Admittedly this was a quiet time to visit (Monday afternoon) but it felt like something was lacking and was the same when I first visited in 2019. The staff are lovely (Augustus and Lisa) but it feels like there is some heart and soul that is not quite there. This should be the heart of Mansfield in terms of a popular venue but it somehow misses the mark which is such a shame as it is a great location. Good food though.

I went In for a meal with my partner and stayed for a few drinks after. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were really friendly! Not to mention our meal was great and we really enjoyed it. Id like to give a mention to quite a young looking boy called Seb who served us not quite sure if he was a manager here or not but anyways he looked wanting to be there and made our experience at the Rushley really enjoyable

My family and I had a superb experience at The Rushley recently. Plenty of menu options, food was nice and reasonably priced. Our server was called Tayla, she was incredibly polite and attentive, she is an asset to your team. The atmosphere overall was delightful.

Food was what we ordered. Nothing extraordinary but very tasty. Service was excellent. I requested a table in a quiet spot due to members of the party having dementia. The table was perfect. All the party enjoyed their visit without being overwhelmed with too much going on around them.

Very accommodating for a large party. Clean and calm atmosphere. Loved sitting by the window to see the kids from our party playing safely in the park. Only thing that could have been better is if kids meals and puddings could come out before the adults as there was a wait between bringing them all out. Also be nice to be aware of substitutions of stock, kids expecting strawberries got pineapple and if we was made aware we’d have said leave them off. We forgot candles for the cake and you provided them for us so we was ever so grateful thank you! Overall was a really lovely night, we left very happy.
