About This Pub

Ah, the Tabard in Chiswick is one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, doesn't it? Tucked away near the tube, it's got this Grade II-listed building designed by Norman Shaw, full of antique history and cosy nooks that make you want to settle in for the evening. I love how the staff are so approachable and efficient; they really add to the homely feel, whether you're grabbing a quick drink or tucking into some tasty pub food. Speaking of which, they've got a solid menu with fresh, seasonal specials and options for everyone, plus perks like that 20% student discount – it's a winner for keeping things affordable. The outdoor area is spot on for sunnier days, and if you're lucky, you might catch some live music that gets the place buzzing. On the flip side, it can get a bit hectic, and you might end up waiting a while for your meal, especially if it's a busy night like Christmas. Still, that's pub life for you, and it's worth it for the atmosphere. All in all, if you're in the area, I'd say give it a go – it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, balancing that classic British pub charm with a few modern touches.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The cosy, historic atmosphere in this Grade II-listed building really transports you back in time, with antique features and a warm, inviting vibe that's perfect for a relaxing evening.
  • Friendly staff who make you feel right at home, always ready with a smile and quick service to keep things flowing smoothly.
  • A great selection of beers, craft ales, and special deals like the student discount, making it an affordable spot for a pint or a bite without breaking the bank.
  • Lovely outdoor area and live music events that add a fun, lively touch – it's brilliant for enjoying a drink al fresco or catching a band like the Disfunction crew.
  • Solid food options with traditional pub grub, including vegan, vegetarian, and family-friendly choices, plus it's dog-friendly so you can bring your furry mate along.
Cons
  • You might have to wait a bit for your food during peak times, like we did on Christmas Day, though it's not a deal-breaker if you're in no rush.
  • The old-style layout keeps things traditional, which is charming but could feel a tad outdated if you're after something more modern and sleek.

An exceptional pub attuned to the conventions of the hostelry industry with fare that doesn’t stray to far from expectations. A noteworthy beer and craft ale selection. But it’s the understated and functional interior here retaining much of the original late 19th.Century “Arts & Crafts” fittings and finishes that underpins much of the tone and metre here. Grade II Listed attributed to Norman Shaw (circa 1880) Distinctive and Distinguished.
