About This Pub
Ah, the Star & Garter – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart the moment you step in, with its traditional old beams and that genuine, friendly buzz that makes you want to settle in for the evening. I've got to say, what really stands out is how dog-friendly it is; it's brilliant for us who like to bring the pup along on walks near the canal, and they've got all the little touches like treats and water bowls that make you feel appreciated. The live sports and music add a fun layer, and at these prices, you can enjoy a pint or two without worrying about the tab. On the flip side, it can feel a bit quiet on quieter days, and the beer garden is more understated than impressive, so if you're after something more lively or spacious, it might not hit the mark every time. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back catch-up with mates, offering that perfect mix of history, affordability, and community spirit without trying too hard to be fancy.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
It's incredibly dog-friendly, with water bowls, treats, and a welcoming vibe for four-legged friends both inside and in the cosy beer garden – perfect if you're out for a walk and fancy a pit stop.
-
The atmosphere is just lovely; it's a fun, friendly spot with live sports, music, and weekly entertainment that makes you feel right at home, especially with the warm staff and regulars.
-
Prices are spot on for a good night out – inexpensive drinks and great value, like pints of Worthingtons or Guinness, without breaking the bank.
-
It's got that classic old English pub charm with historic features like old beams and a grade II listed building, plus extras like a pool table and a decent beer selection.
-
Handy location in the heart of Droitwich, just a short stroll from the canal and Vines Park, making it ideal for boaters, walkers, or anyone popping in after a day out.
Cons
-
It can be a bit quiet on off-peak days, like Mondays, so if you're after a buzzing crowd, you might find it a tad subdued at times.
-
The beer garden is small and not particularly flashy – it's more of a simple, sunny spot rather than a grand outdoor area, which might disappoint if you're expecting something more elaborate.
-
With no recent reviews in the last six months, it feels like it might not be drawing in as many new visitors lately, though the overall rating is still solid.

Traditional old English pub, grade II listed. Very welcoming and friendly. We had a very good game of pool, and pints of Worthingtons and Guinness. Hope to return next time I visit Droitwich.
Great example of a proper pub. Good drink selection at great prices with very friendly and welcoming staff and regulars. Lots of entertainment on the weekends and happy hours through the week.
Proper locals pub but always welcoming to new faces. Decent choice of beers at reasonable prices, selection of chunky rolls for sale behind the bar. Pool table and live music played quite regularly.
