About This Pub
Ah, the Old Cock Inn – it's one of those classic spots in Droitwich that feels like a proper step back in time, with its early 19th-century building and that welcoming atmosphere you don't always find everywhere. I love how the staff go out of their way to make you feel at ease, and they've nailed the drinks side with a cracking range of cask ales and gins that'd make any ale enthusiast smile. The food's solid too, with pub favourites like fish and chips or a good burger coming out quickly and tasting just right for a casual meal. Plus, the beer garden's a treat on a sunny day, and being dog-friendly means you can bring the whole gang along. On the downside, though, some folks have mentioned the policies being a bit inflexible – like not letting you taste the wine before committing – and the menu doesn't offer loads of variety, so it might not wow you if you're in the mood for something more adventurous. All in all, it's a reliable choice for a relaxed night out or catching up with mates, especially if you're local, but it could do with a few tweaks to really shine.

The food can be average at times, not always standing out as exceptional, from what I've heard in reviews.

Really good ordered fish and chips and a burger coke and J20 food cake fast and staff are really welcoming 10/10 would come again/reccomend
We went to see a comedic poet as part of the Rik Mayall festival. We were served very quickly at the bar and found the prices very reasonable. We went upstairs to the venue, which i didn't realise existed. It was a very well organised visit from the time we arrived to the time we left. Thank you, and keep up the good work!!
Firstly lets say that the owners totally non flexible policies are unusual to say the least. My wife could not have a taste of the wine that was offered by the glass - that was a new one on us as every other pub we've been to for dinner has allowed to see if the wine was acceptable.
The menu is limited - my wife had the chicken pie and chips. Clearly pre cooked and frozen. Not dissimilar to what we could get at Aldo but no match for an M&S pie.
I had the chicken and ribs platter. As I find pub chicken breast to be generally very dry, I asked for that NOT to be served (no point in wasting it). I suggested that they might throw on a couple of extra onion rings but guess what. NO as the owner does not allow ANY substitutions. No worries. Anyway the meal was very disappointing and breached the trades description act. The menu clearly states a half rack of ribs. A Pig has 14 ribs each side so any mathematician would tell you that half of 14 is 7. There were 5. They were not particularly meaty. The wings were covered in a sauce which was different from the sauce on the ribs so a strange mix of flavours. Popcorn chicken was overcooked and dry.
Beer was good, fries were good, service was pleasant but not good enough to makeup for the deficiencies so no, we wont we going back or recommending the place.
I thought it was a standard Marstons pub, so I was not going to go in there initially. However, I was glad that I changed my mind. It had a nice selection of ales on there that were kept well.
Only reason it is 4 stars and not 3 is because of atmosphere and friendly, cheerful staff! 🤭
We were looking for the best available pub experience in the area and were sold by great reviews and rating of 4.5
While the building and atmosphere is absolutely authentic, the food was average at most.
Cowboy burger bun was very dry (taking in count, it was brioche is shouldn't have been cooked from the top at all) and coleslaw was served !warm (it was most unpleased coleslaw we tried). Salat leaves in the burger had hard bits (i guess leftovers), which isn't a big deal, but still, why?
Cheddar potatoe leek pie - the dough part is so overcooked, almost rock hard, without gravy and salt it tasted plain, with potatoes in it still tender. I couldn't taste any cheddar at all. To be honest, if you can't cook pie properly, just remove it from the menu as such a simple dish ruins trust. Over cooked peas killed me too ( seriously, frozen peas just soak in boiling water for 3 min and serve! No magic needed!).
Pepper and salt in opposite grinders too 🫣
