About This Pub
Ah, Six Bells – what a delightful spot in Headington, Oxford, isn't it? From what I've gathered from folks who've popped in recently, it's got this real charm that's hard to resist. The food steals the show; imagine tucking into a Sunday roast where the beef is spot-on, or a pie that's not just hearty but beautifully presented – it's like they've put a bit of extra love into every plate. And the staff? They're an absolute treat, always popping over for a chat and making sure you're looked after, which really makes the place feel welcoming. It's inexpensive too, so you won't break the bank for a good night out. On the flip side, it does feel like they're still getting everything shipshape with the new management; one chap mentioned the kitchen was just starting up, so there might be the odd hiccup if you're after a full menu straight away. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a bite, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely top-notch – think delicious pub classics like chicken and leek pie or a juicy burger that's a cut above the rest, with presentation that's as impressive as the taste.
-
The staff, especially the host and chef, are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home as they chat and interact throughout your visit.
-
It's got a lovely, welcoming atmosphere that's clean and cosy, perfect for a relaxed meal or a catch-up with mates.
-
Under the new management, they're serving up fresh, homemade dishes and a solid selection of beers and drinks, which adds to the excitement of the place.
Cons
-
It seems like they're still finding their feet under the new owners, so some things might not be fully up and running yet, which could mean the occasional wait or limited options.
-
While the drinks menu is decent with choices like Thatcher's and Guinness, it might not have the widest variety for those after something more adventurous.

Found this Pub on our last night in Oxford, it's a pity we didn't find it earlier.
We were looking for some good beer and good food, and we found it.
The host and the Chef were both outstanding. Very attentive, and both take the time to interact with the customers throughout the night, offering recommendations, when asked, without being pushy.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable evening and would thoroughly recommend this Pub to anybody looking for a nice evening with great food, and beer.
Had a meal with family. Wasn't expecting anything exciting but was really surprised by how amazing the food was. I had the chicken and leek pie. It was more than just a pub pie! Presentation alone was 10/10 and it tasted incredible. My husband had the burger. He's quite particular with burgers and said this was one the best he's had. The service was also fantastic. Very friendly staff. We will be returning and highly recommend.

Amazing food, Sunday roast was on point, the beef was great ans so tasty! Very friendly and lovely atmosphere. The burger was also super tasty!! Absolutely recommend!!
Theis place is just getting started under its new owners. The bar is open with Thatcher's, Wainwright, Guinness, Brooklyn Brewery etc, plus various spirits, soft drinks and hot drinks.
We were told that the kitchen will be up and running soon, offering pub classics and other dishes.
The new owners are young, enthusiastic and friendly. We were shown the lovely courtyard garden, which is a good size.
As the kitchen is not fully open yet, we were offered a free snack - homemade, herby sausage roll with Oxford Sauce😋
